2015 Audi Q7

This is still just an illustration.
But it does look a lot like these spy shots we have seen for about 15/20 years now.

Just like most new Audi models, it just looks like a square version of the current car.
The current Q7 still looks really good, I think.

I'm sure the new one will be better, lighter etc... But not sure it will look better, really....

Cadillac Escalade V-Sport and Diesel coming up???

According to Automotive News, Cadillac is actually considering a more powerful version of the Escalade. And maybe even a diesel version.

Sure, there might be a few people who always want "bigger with more power".
I guess they can always add a supercharger or a turbo to the huge 6.2 Liter V8.

(Although Lincoln decided to go "all V6" for the 2015 Navigator).

But a powerful Turbo V6 Diesel does make more sense.

Not sure if GM does have one though. Or even working on it. As I have never heard about a new V6 Diesel from GM...

VW Crossblue coming up...

It has finally been announced today. It will be built in the US. And not in Mexico.
Good news fro Tennessee that will see another 2000 jobs from it.

The bad news is: production will start late 2016. Not late this year. Or late next year.
But over 2 years from now!!!

The concept is from last year. So by the time it actually reaches dealers, it will be a 4 year old design!
How sad is that.

But, it is not based on the US Passat platform. Instead, it is based on the newer MQB one.
Same as the all new Euro Passat.
So it looks like the US plant will be producing MQB based cars in 2016. Which means they could actually build the Euro Passat over here as well.
Just in time for ours to be replaced.

Interesting...

2016 Toyota Prius

Still under heavy camouflage.
But now you can tell it will look quite different than the current model.
Even if the general silhouette is similar.
The cut from the hatchback and the rear door both look much more rounded than before.
I suspect that under all that black tape, things might not be that angular anymore.

In any case, we will now have to wait 6 months more to see the real thing, since the new model has been delayed.

New 2015 VW Passat videos.

I don't know about you, but all these videos make me really wish this car was sold here in the US.

VW's idea of the US market is so wrong. Thinking Americans only want bigger/cheaper cars.
Sure, many do. Maybe most. But NOT the ones who buy VWs. That's the whole point.

Of course it can't start at $30 000 and try to compete with the Camry.
But being based on their new "more efficient" (cheaper top make) platform, they could really find a way to sell it here at a competitive price. (And the new model is roomier, which means probably almost as roomy as the US model anyway.)

Just like they do with the new Golf/GTI.
And just like Ford is doing with the Fusion/Mondeo. Mazda with the Mazda6 etc...

There is really no reason for this not being sold here.

I was thinking that maybe this could come here in a couple of years, but no. Our Passat is due for some changes next year. So an all new one isn't coming anytime soon....

2015 Opel/Vauxhall Corsa

Looks like the design is actually mostly new. But hard to say if it is "all new". (2015 model is on top)

I am also not so sure it is an improvement over the current one. At least the 4 door version.

The 2 door model always looked more modern, and still does here.
Again, hard to say how new it is. They do look so similar...

There is no doubt inside, where everything does look different. And really nice. It has less of a toy look.

Again, Bob Lutz had been saying that we would be getting the Corsa in the US for "the next generation". Which is the car shown here.
But that is also back when Saturn and Pontiac were still around.

I just wonder if the plan is now to turn this into a small Buick...

2015 Mazda2

At least we get to see the interior early.
Looks fine to me.
In line with the new Mazda3, but smaller.

Looks like the iPad looking screen is here to stay. I wonder how long it will take to appear in the Mazda 6 and CX5...

2015 Kia K4

The K4 is for the Chinese market, only. So far.

It is position right under the Optima, known as the K5 over there.
And seems to be based on the Forte. As the previous generation had the same body as our Forte.

This looks like a small version of the large K900 sedan.
And more conservative than the Forte.

Kind of strange they would use 2 totally different designs within the same segment ...

More pictures of the all new 2015 Euro VW Passat

I still think it looks really good.
I hear it is a bit smaller, yet roomier than the previous generation. And almost 200 pounds lighter as well.

This will make our US model look even worse.
Especially the interior, which is already one of the most depressing out there...

All we rare getting here is a "refresh" next year.(which could mean just new bumpers) So a new one is at least 2 or 3 years away.

All new 2015 VW Passat

Yes, this is the all new Passat for 2015. New platform, new body, new interior.

I think it looks very nice, in a conservative sort of way. Of course.
Not very original, but looking very upscale and quite modern.

VW did a really nice job.
But that is all most of us will ever see. Because this is the European Passat.
The US will keep the "larger & cheaper" car we have now.

It's just VW's way of saying "this is too good for the US"...

Thanks guys!

Of course there is a new wagon too!

2015 Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake

It is coming up soon. But probably not in the US. Just like the wagon version of the larger CLS.

I guess Mercedes would rather have us buy the GLA SUV instead.
Too bad as this will probably look really good.

Volvo XC90

Not the real thing. Yet.

But I bet it's pretty close .
It matches the proportions of the prototypes we've seen of it for the past 58 years.

It's too bad they showed us these 3 great concepts last year. To just come up with a so-so looking SUV.
On top of that, the production interior is nothing like the concepts. Nothing at all.

Seems weird that Volvo is betting so much on this.
It will be quite expensive. So they won't be selling tons of these no matter what.

2015 Mazda2. And more...

Not sure where this is from. Dealers meeting. Or something else.

But it shows what we can expect from Mazda within the next 2 years.
The all new Mazda2 isn't a surprise. Although this is the 1st picture ever of the production model.
It also looks like it will get a new 1.5 Diesel as an option. (Not for us)
And I also see a panoramic roof.

Still no actual picture of the new Miata. It must be under one of the covers.

But strangely enough, it also looks like 2 other coupe, or sedan models.
I don't see the upcoming new CX9. Or the small CX3 crossovers.
Maybe a Mazda6 Coupe?
Or a new RX7?

Weird...

2015 Buick Envision

Just a teaser so far. And, of course, it will be shown in China first. (since it is, by far, Buick's largest market)
I must say, from what we can see, it doesn't look very exciting.
The competition has been very aggressive in that segment. Toyota's controversial all new NX is sure to become quite popular. And even Lincoln has a very convincing model with the MKC.

We'll see....
What we can already see, is that it doesn't keep much of the Envision Concept from a few years ago.
This looked so much better already...

2015 Ford Endeavour

The Endeavour is the name used in India for the Australian Ford Everest.

The Eversest has never been sold in the US. The new one will be based on the same platform as the new Ranger (also not sold in the US).
So it's a truck.

But the picture above was taken in the US. So now everyone thinks Ford will bring the Everest/Endeavour over here.

Who knows. I mean their line up is pretty crowded. Escape, Edge, Explorer.
I don't see room for anything else.

Do you?

2015 BMW X5 E Drive

Hybrids have not been very successful for BMW so far.
Way over priced, and mostly discontinued...

Still, there is a Plug-in version of the X5 coming out soon.
It uses a 2.0 Liter engine with the electric motor. And can get up to about 20 miles on EV mode.
Nothing new. Nothing amazing...

These should be cheaper options to be popular.

2016 Jaguar XE

This is the latest illustration of what the all new compact sedan from Jaguar could look like.

The front end matches the only official teaser we saw a few weeks ago.
But the rest looks too much like the XF.
I hope the real thing looks a bit more original. Just a bit more different than " a smaller XF".

Although, this is what the competition has been doing for years. Like Audi, BMW, Mercedes etc...
The "one sausage, different lengths" car design philosophy has been polluting our streets for quite a while now.

The real thing will be shown very soon, so there is still a bit of hope.

2016 Toyota Prius

Of course, this is just an illustration.

But who knows. This actually uses some recent design elements we've seen from Toyota.
-Like an uglier version of the current model.
-Too many weird wavy lines.
-Just plain weird front end.
-A general feel of "trying too hard".

This could be close to the real thing...

PS: This was sent to me by a reader. So thanks!

2015 Cadillac CTS

Looks like the only change is the new Cadillac logo on the grille. (You can see the 2015 ATS in the background)

Not sure it's an improvement over the previous logo.
As it doesn't really look more modern.

The rest of the grille looks like it was redesigned as well. Now with 2 horizontal lines instead of 3.
Not sure why...

PS: Sent to me by a reader. Thanks!

New Ram Promaster City

This is Chrysler's answer to the popular Ford Transit Connect.

It was just a matter of time for more manufacturers to offer these kinds of small vans in the US.
As they have been around in Europe for years.

Now we have a version of the Fiat Doblo. (So this isn't an all new model.)
Power comes from a 2.4 Liter engine with 178HP.
And the whole thing starts at $24 000.
Which is about $3000 more than the Nissan SV200 !
And still $2500 more than the all new Transit Connect.

Not sure why the Ram/Fiat van is more expensive than its competition.
All I can say is that life will be very tough against the new Ford Transit Connect.
Especially if the small Ram is more expensive...
