2022 Range Rover: better pix...

The all-new Range Rover does seem a bit of a gamble.
It seems they are going for a super clean design, while other big luxury SUVs are getting more and more vulgar.
No giant grille. Almost no chrome trim. Just a very clean version of the iconic Range Rover design.

Something more for the British monarchy than your average Russian mafia oligarch.
This is the opposite of what we have just seen with the new Lexus LX. Or any of the huge luxury SUVs from Cadillac, Lincoln, and now Jeep.

As for the interior, I am afraid the "simple look" is carried a little bit too far. Since it seems very close to the revised Jaguar F-Pace interior we saw a few months ago (bottom pic)
The base price of the jaguar is almost $45 000 less than the current Range Rover. And the interior should reflect that huge difference in a more obvious way.

(Unless the interior photo of the new Range Rover is actually wrong...)

Not sure about the powertrain yet, but some kind of PHEV is almost certain. And maybe even a full EV version.
(If there is an electric version, it would now directly compete with the aging Tesla Model X. Which now starts at $100 000. While the regular 2021 Range Rover is about $10 000 less...)

2023 Acura Integra: new teaser...

Acura has just released a second official teaser of the all-new 2023 Acura Integra.
As you can see, it is obviously a 4 door hatchback.

"Just like the original Integra, which helped launch the Acura brand in 1986, the fifth-generation Integra will be a premium sport compact with striking five-door design".
These are the official words from Acura.

I think this looks great so far. We saw the front end before (HERE), but the rest of the car is much more original. I also hope the car pictured above is not just a concept ( I can't see any door handles...)

Being described as a compact, it pretty much has to be based on the new 2022 Civic. But so far, it looks 100% different. And 1000% better!

Next-generation Subaru Impreza: new illustration...

The current generation Subaru Imprezza was introduced back in March 2016. So it's not that crazy to imagine a new design is on its way, after almost 6 years.
It actually is an important design for Subaru in the US, because of the Crosstrek.

The Crosstrek is basically an Imprezza on stilts, covered in black plastic bits. While the Impreza isn't a popular model over here, (Around 43 600 sold in 2020), the Crosstrek is. With almost 120 000 sold last year.

I am pretty sure the illustration above is way off since Subaru is just not able to come up with a production design that modern. but we should be seeing more of these in the next few months, and maybe some actual prototypes driving around too.

2022 Toyota Tundra: in the wild...

These are all-new photos of the 2022 redesigned Toyota Tundra. (Although we have seen it before HERE)

It almost looks like a Chevrolet Silverado outside. Since the Chevrolet is also getting a new interior for next year, we'll have to wait if the new Tundra is also similar to the Silverado inside.
The new Tundra is rumored to offer a twin-turbo V6. And maybe a V6 hybrid option.
The Hybrid could help make the Tundra an interesting option for big truck buyers. Otherwise, I am not sure why this would be such a better choice than anything else in the segment.

The current one sold about 109 000 units last year. Over 4 times less than the Silverado and over 7 times less than the F-150.

We'll see...

Thanks again to a reader for the tip!

Hyundai Ioniq 6: a look inside...

You can already tell the upcoming Hyundai Ioniq 6 EV sedan will share a few of its interior bits with the new Ioniq 5.
The steering wheel and switchgear all seem to be similar. Even the part of the dashboard under the screens seems very similar.
And why not, since they already will share platform and powertrain.

But it will also make the more expensive Ioniq 6 less special than the Ioniq 5. Since that interior might feel a bit familiar by the time it comes out.
As for the exterior, the new sedan will be quite a letdown compared to the concept that previewed it.
While the Ioniq 5 stayed very close to the Giugiaro influenced Concept 45.

I also wonder about the new Ioniq models pricing in the US. Which hasn't been revealed yet.
The 5 is rumored to start at between $35 000 and $40 000.
This means the 6 would have to be more expensive. Hyundai could end up having quite a tough time fighting against the Model 3 if it doesn't offer a price advantage.

2022 Genesis GV60: a look inside...

With the new Ioniq 6 and Kia EV6 already feeling quite upscale inside, I was wondering how the Genesis version of these cars would look and feel. And it looks like they have found ways to make the Genesis version even more luxurious. At least inside.

Sure, there's a lot of metal trim. But it seems to look pretty good. And actually has many original shapes. They're trying very hard and might go a bit too far. But so far, this looks pretty nice.

2022 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado: kind of new...

The Land Cruiser Prado is basically a "Smaller than Land Cruiser" Land Cruiser.

Sold in many countries but not the US. We are getting a luxurious version of it here as the Lexus GX (bottom pic)

It looks like it is getting a new front end for 2022. And maybe more? It's hard to tell...

The whole thing does look a bit different on the profile photo when compared to the current GX. So it might actually be a new design...

The front end looks a lot like the RAV-4 design. Also used in the new Corolla Cross. So at least we know this won't be sold as a Lexus here. At least not with that front end.

Somehow, Lexus still managed to sell more units of the GX last year than in 2019. At over 28 000. So we might see this with a huge Lexus grille over here next year.  As a reminder, the current generation Prado came out in 2009. Yes, 2009! Same thing for the Lexus version.

I'd say it's time for something new...

Mystery BMW SUV...

At first I thought this was the production version of the upcoming iNext EV.
But it actually does not really match other spy shots.
Plus, 4 exhaust pipes. (Which, of course, could be part of the camouflage. )
But the rear hatch seems to be opening much lower than on the other iNext prototypes...
And the headlights do look different....

Otherwise, what could it be?
Some new version of the X3? X5?

Since all BMW SUVs pretty much look the same, it is really hard to say.

What do you think?

- iNext?
- X3 EV?
- Some new X3 version?
- Some new X5 model?

Something else?

2017 Porsche Panamera

Looking much better than the current model.
This is what it should have looked like in the first place.

So, nothing scary here, just basically correcting the mistakes of the previous version.
Which is just fine.

From what we have seen of the interior, it is also much nicer and almost futuristic.
(Although the current model is still fine in that department.)

Engines will include versions of the all-new V8 unveiled a little while ago. As well as a V6.
The plug-in hybrid model is rumored to be much more efficient.
With a range of almost 40 miles (Instead of around 22 miles for the current version)

That will not compete with the Tesla Model S anytime soon, but the upcoming production version of the "Mission E Concept" EV will.

The new Panamera will be an even more compelling luxury sedan option.
It still retains the hatchback, like the Audi A7, but now add a glass roof option, just like the Tesla.
It just looks so much nicer than the "old men choices" like the BMW 7 series or the S Class.

And, a wagon version is coming up next. Which will look a lot like the gorgeous Sport Tourismo Concept from 2012.
And it will be coming to the US as well.

We should see the whole thing in September. As it will probably be officially unveiled at the Paris Auto Show. At least the regular version.
The wagon might debut sometime later.

There is also another rumor of a luxury coupe based on this.
And why not..

2017 Honda Odyssey

There it is again. The next Odyssey.

It does look pretty slick already.
Seems that everyone knew that Chrysler was coming up with something pretty modern.
So now it's time to catch up.

Not sure from these pictures if the rear side window will be getting a similar treatment is has now.
But there is a bit of a scoop visible on the second picture.

These were taken by a friend of mine.
Cartoonist/show creator/surfer/overall great guy.

So thanks!

2017 Lincoln Continental!

This is it ! The real thing. (Concept in blue)

And of course, it is very close to the concept. Since this "Concept" was just the production model with extra trim and big wheels.
So, those who liked the concept will love this.
I never liked the concept. So I'm not crazy about this new Continental.

I still think that grille design is horrible. And I do expect much more heritage from something called "Continental". Not just a generic design.

But, I am sure it will be a very nice car. Why not.

It'll be the "American Acura RLX". Very nice and very invisible.
Which is exactly what a Lincoln Continental should NOT be...

Again, from the rear, very close to last year's concept. (Although it does look quite a bit cheaper)

BMW i5

BMW is supposed to add an all new i5 model to its hybrid/electric line up.
And it could be as soon as late next year.

It is supposed to be based on a longer version of the carbon fiber (expensive) i3 platform.
Therefore sharing some of the cost of the i3.

The larger model will be, of course more expensive. But would also have a much better range.
There is a rumor about it being a long range plug-in hybrid.
Using the updated 2017 i3 power train/batteries with a 3 cylinder range extender.

The 2017 i3 is rumored to get a range of around 125 miles. Or more.
This, combined with a 3 cylinder would make a truly great plug-in hybrid sedan .

All new Honda Civic

This is quite surprising. Even after seeing tons of spy shots, patent drawings etc...

I think the new Civic looks very impressive. Some details are a bit much. Like busy bumper design, that chrome pice on the grille.
But overall, this looks really good. And much more modern and upscale.
There will be a coupe version of course.
And, for the 1st time in many years (in the US) a hatchback.

I think this could actually really hurt the Accord. It this new Civic is roomier, why every bother with something larger and more expensive?

2017 Chrysler minivan

I keep seeing these Chrysler minivans around. By now, there aren't early mules anymore.
(The front resembles the 200 sedan, a lot) It is supposed to be shown at the Detroit show in just a few months.
But they still have these Dodge Durango tail lights on them.

That's pretty strange right?
(Although not as strange as the driver's Chrysler building tattoo?)
