2017/16 DS7 Crossback

Last Updated:

This is pretty sad.
DS is supposed to be some high end version of Citroen. And this is just so generic looking.
Like some weird version of the Audi Q5.

Citroen shows us an amazing concept for a sedan a few months ago.
And their new C3 is really modern looking. So I guess the DS sub brand is getting more conservative?
And where does Peugeot fit an all this?

These are still just illustrations, not the real thing.
But I have seen pictures of camouflaged prototypes that pretty much match these illustrations.
So there isn’t much hope for anything original…

  1. The DS brand is mostly disappearing form Europe, no new model for ages, and non of those shown in China are supposed to arrive here. I guess Citroen as "funky and cheap" and Peugeot as "classier than mass but still not really premium" is enough for Europe (after all, few people are willing to buy taretd up mass market cars for the price of proper premium brands, as DS learned).

So I guess DS is for China only in future, and Chinese taste is super conservative. This however looks like any random Japanese car (Infinity, Mazda), actually not bad, but with zero European let alone Citroen DNA in it….

  2. It's so pathetic that in this day when any light can be any shape you could imagine–we keep coming up with less variety than we had when all headlights were only 1 of 2 sizes of round and all tailights had the same glass bulbs. Where's all the creativity gone??? Why is everything either a 6-window hatchback suv or a 6-window fastback sedan? SAD!

Again, because mediocrity sells. If the pigs keep asking for more slop, why would they try anything different?
