Mercedes SL

Last Updated:

The front end is all new.
And, in my opinion, much better than before.
Unfortunately. The rear end hasn’t changed much. ( I guess that would have required too many new metal parts)

Inside, I am glad they have not added the floating tablet to the dashboard.
The screen was high enough, and they just made it larger.
It also now gets a new 9 speed automatic.

It’s still not as fantastic as an SL should be. But it is better…

  1. You'll rarely see mid cycle updates that touch the unibody. Just the bolt-on panels and plastic bits. It's cheaper and means they don't need to conduct as much crash testing. Pity, because the rear of this barge is just terrible. The front was greatly improved though.

  2. Have to agree with you guy, something about the rearend seems off. Guess we'll have to wait for the next gen SL. The front end is a homerun.

  3. Too bad they couldn't have mimicked the C and S class taillights by putting a slim body-color piece between the taillights and trunk lid.. would hsve been simple yet effective.
