2007 Lexus ES

Another shot of the next ES testing. Still covered with crap…
You can see the front a little bit better, the headlights. And we now know that the top of the doors (and dash) is black. Just like in the new GS and IS.
That’s big news isn’t it?
Is Lexus starting to form something like a GS manufacturer? Everything is starting to look a bit like the GS. Oh and one thing what name does the ES and the GS o under in Japan. One more thing why is there cardboard again on the front, side and rear? Are they getting crazy about the cardboard thingy?
I fail to see why people buy this car. Its just a Camry, only costs more.
If you spend just 30 seconds inside, you can tell it’s not “just a Camry”.
If you don’t know it is based on the Camry, there is no way to tell. Everything you see is different, and more expensive looking.
The ride is even smoother and it is even quieter.
Claiming “its only a camry” truly shows your ignorance. As the prev poster said, spend 30 seconds inside of it and you’ll understand why people buy it.
Its nicer on the inside than ANY of Acura’s or Infiniti’s line of vehicles…. this coming from “just a camry” :rolleyes:

This is the first year that Lexus exists as a brand in Japan, so the names are the same there.
Previously, the ES was the Toyota Windom and the GS was the Toyota Aristo. (They were designed for the Lexus brand then rebadged.)
I guess Lexus will be stuck with Cadillac in having a popular FWD model that makes other people look down on the brand. But it’s so good at what it’s supposed to do, and it’s on the ideal platform for the job.
All new Lexus Models starting with the 06 GS have been and will continue to be built under the new design philosophy known as ‘L Finesse’. Just like all BMW’s have a common look Lexus will also. The ES shares with the Camry only the piece of sheet steel that’s used for the floor pan. The Camry now uses the ES 3.3 litre engine. The cars are built in completely different factories and to a higher specification. Just drive one and you’ll feel it in 30 seconds. The build quality and attention to detail is un-rivaled.
