More pictures of the new Honda Fit Shuttle

And it still looks ugly and disproportionate.

A huge rear end and tiny wheels is ever a good combo, on any car.
The whole thing still looks like an 80's Japanese concept car to me. And not a good one.

Engines are the same as the regular Fit, including the Hybrid version, so it won't be fast with a longer and heavier car.

At least, it's nice to know that overseas market can get a tan/black interior combo on the Fit.
And the trunk looks huge. From inside as well as outside....

2013 Opel Astra Convertible

Getting ready to do battle with the new VW Cabrio.
And just like the VW, it will not be coming over here.
Unless GM decides to make it a Buick Verano convertible.

Why not...

People and their cars...

New Renault 5 coming up??

This is the latest rumor.
Renault would use the next Clio platform to create a retro design inspired by the original Renault 5 from the 70's.
The original, 1st generation model was produced from 1972 to 1985.
And was sold in the US as the "LeCar" from 1976 to 1983.

Of course, this time around, there won't be a US LeCar anymore...

In Europe, it would compete with small premium retro cars like the Mini and Beetle. But also the Audi A1, Citroen DS3 and Alfa Mito.

Maybe I'm just getting old, but I don't see the 70's cars as retro enough. The Mini and Beetle's ancestors are much older.

We'll see....

All new Honda Brio

The tiny Brio is not for the US.

It just came out in Thailand, and will be sold in other markets as well.
It competes with other super small cars like the new Kia Picanto and the chevy Spark. And both look much more modern than the Honda...

Power comes from a 1.2 Liter engine with 90hp.

2012/13 Chevrolet Cruze wagon

Not sure if this is an illustration or not. But this isn't the 1st time I hear about a wagon version for the Cruze.

Looks like Chevrolet is really trying to compete in the segment, already adding a 5 door hatchback.
But that's for Europe, where the Cruze isn't such a big hit.

They should offer every version over here in the US. And add a sporty coupe as well.

2012 Mercedes A-Class

The next A Class will finally make it to the US.
At least as a small sedan. Not sure about the hatchback pictured here.

It will compete here mostly with the all new Audi A3 sedan. And if BMW finally decide to built a 4 door version of the 1 series.
That will be another premium compact sedan we might be getting.

We'll see....

2012 MG5

Just as predicted, this will slot between the all new MG3 and the larger MG6 hatchback.
Which itself is based on the Roewe 550 sedan.

The new Chinese owners of MG seem to be really taking care of the old british brand with a whole bunch of new models.
The MG6 is even built in England with the MG3 to follow soon.

This upcoming MG5 looks to be some sort of small minivan rather than a small hatchback.

We'll see a concept version of it at the upcoming Shanghai Auto Show in a short while.

All new Lancia Ypsilon video

Filmed like this, almost anything will look good.

I still think it would be a good move for Chrysler to sell this over here. Which is the rumor.
The grille is already there.

If Lancia is getting the Chrysler 200 and 300.
We should be getting this over here.

What do you think?

Will report on it soon.

but I'll answer questions you might have meanwhile.

2012 BMW 6 series

They released the convertible a while ago. And showed us a "concept" last year that looked exactly like this, so there is no surprise here.
And I think this is an even more conservative design than the outgoing generation.
The previous model looked really modern when it first came out . Even too modern for some.

This has more of a geeser feel to it.
Or maybe it's just one of these cars "that look better in person".

We'll see...

2013 Saab 9-3

This illustration is clearly inspired by the recent Saab Phoenix concept.
The concept ended up looking like a weird puzzle. With people trying to figure out what piece of it would end up in a production car.
This picture is trying to include some of the Phoenix design elements.

Not sure if it works.
The car's butt seems like it is on fire.

2012 Nissan Versa

Known as the Tilda in other markets.
The top picture is the 1st one I have seen of the all new design.
Which already looks much better than the current model.
And the interior seems even better.

Again, I think next year will be a great year for small cars in the US. And with gas prices over $4 a gallon, they will be more popular than ever.

What am I driving this week?

2013 Fiat Grande Punto

The all new Grande Punto will use a new chassis and will be available as a 3 and 5 door version.

Not sure if we'll get this in the US or not. Or maybe as a Dodge.
but the new chassis will be used for various Dodge and Chrysler small models in the US, at least.

2013 Ford Fusion

For the 2013 model year, both the US Fusion and Euro Mondeo will be redesigned and will pretty much become the same car.
Like they almost were in the good old days of the Ford Tempo...

This is just an illustration of what it could look like. But I'm sure it will look pretty good no matter what. After seeing the 2012 Focus sedan.

It will be competing with plenty of improved or new models when it comes out. Like redesigned versions of the Malibu, Accord and Camry.
On top of the already excellent current crop of mid sized sedans.

VW Bulli Concept approved for production

This seems to be the latest rumor, at least.

We don't know what it would be based on, yet. At first glance, it looks like a minivan version of the up.
But I have another theory.

I think it will use the new Jetta platform. Which is also the base for the new Passat and 2012 Beetle.
As a matter of fact, even the wheels on the Bulli look like the one I saw on the 2012 Beetle last year.

It would make a lot of sense. The platform is engineered to be relatively inexpensive for VW to produce.
And they could add it to their Mexican facility.

So in a couple of years, I might actually be able to drive up to Malibu, and tale the same picture with a production model.

2012 Hyundai Genesis Coupe

The Genesis coupe will be updated for the next year.
It is widely rumored that both engines will be getting a bump in horsepower. Especially the base 2.0 Liter Turbo which could jump from 210 to over 270.

Not sure what else will be changed, besides the usual new grille/bumper/lights combo.

I test drove the Genesis coupe last year and was very impressed. I think of it as a cross between the Nissan Z and Infiniti G37 coupe. At a much lower price.

Glad to see they even found room for improvement.

More pictures of the Mazda Minagi Concept

We'll see how much of this will be left in the translation to the Mazda CX-5.

Very nice looking, but nothing really new.
We've all seen these lines before on a few other cars.

2012 Honda Civic video

Caught during a shoot.
And looking better than on the pictures we've seen. I think.
the sedans still looks very similar to the outgoing message. But the coupe does seem much more original.

We'll see....
