2021 Nissan Frontier: next to the new Navara...

Nissan did unveil the revised Navara today. Which is their smaller "world market" pick up we are not getting in the US.

Instead, we are getting an all-new Frontier mid-size model. You can see the Frontier on the left of the picture.

A much more angular design than the Navara. One that matches the various spy shots we have seen already.

More very soon...

2019 Nissan Terra

I have mention this truck before, but we now have official pictures.
So far, this is only for other markets. Like some Asian countries and probably Australia.
Where the Navara pick up truck is sold. Since this is based on the Navara.

It is basically an old fashion body on frame, pick up truck based SUV.
Like the early Ford Explorer was here. In these countries it will compete with the Toyota 4 Runner and Ford Everest (Based on the Ranger)
Nothing fancy . You can tell from the Navara interior.

Not sure if this will ever make it to the US as a new X-Terra .
But why not....

All new Navara based Nissan SUV for 2018

New pictures of an upcoming all new Nissan SUV surfaced HERE today.
It is said to be based on the Navara pick up truck.
The Navara has been sold in many country for a while now. Except the US.

(Nissan also announced that the new Frontier will be specific to the US, not just a rebadged naval. We'll see...)

But this "new SUV' is just the Paladin I mentioned earlier HERE

Here is the picture I posted a few weeks ago.

And here is a new one.

In my first post about the Paladin, I was wondering if it could ever become a new Xterra on the US.
(Since "Paladin" was always the name of the "Xterra" in other markets)

But this looks pretty large.
Although the rumor is it will be offered in 2 versions. 5 and 7 seats.
So a shorter 5 seater could maybe work as the next Xterra?

What do you think?
Since Ford is getting a new Bronco ready based on the new Ranger, why not?

All new Mercedes X-Class pick up truck

Here is is. The weirdest thing ever. An actual Mercedes pick up truck.

Well... Not really. It is "based" on the Nissan Navara. The Renault Alaskan is also "based" on the Nissan.
By "based", they mean " they are all the same car"
Since basically, only the front end is new. And maybe the interior

(although the Nissan and Renault have pretty much the same interior)

Here are the Nissan and Renault versions.
You can tell the Mercedes has, of course, an all new front end.
But also fenders.

Otherwise, same thing.(I'll post pix of the interior soon)
We don't get the Renault here, of course.
But I thought the navara would make a great Nissan Frontier in the US.

So far, the Mercedes version isn't coming here.
(Maybe because of a future Navara/Frontier connection)

2018 Nissan Paladin: Is the Xterra coming back?

This is, so far, for the Chinese market only.
The new Paladin is actually an SUV version of the Navara pick-up truck that came out a while ago.
What is interesting is that the previous generation Paladin was the name of the Xterra sold in China.

So basically, this is a new Xterra. But this time, only for the Chinese market.
Since it is a version of the Navara, it is still truck based. Like the Xterra and old Pathfinder.

Not sure if Nissan is planning a return to truck based SUVs in the US.
I guess why not. Since it seems everything and anything called "SUV" sells these days...
Stylewise it looks a bit like a smaller Pathfinder. (But the pathfinder is supposed to be all new for next year).

Who knows...

(Thanks to a reader for this!)

Is this the next Nissan Frontier??

I am being told this could very well be the next Frontier for the US.
Not sure.

One thing is sure though, the Frontier is past due for a redesign.
The current model is almost 13 years old. I mean really...

A new generation came out in 2014. But not in the US.
Called the Navara in Europe and other countries, it is also the base for a Renault pick up truck.
As well as the upcoming Mercedes X Class. (So it can't be that crappy...)

The truck above does look pretty crappy I must say. Feels like something from 15 or 20 years ago...

Here is the current European Navara.

2022 Nissan Frontier teaser: maybe not ours...

Nissan just released an official teaser for the new Frontier pick-up.

Unfortunately, this still looks like the "international" version, which is called Nissan Navara in some markets. As it looks a lot like the one pictured HERE.

Our version is a different vehicle. More on the US/Canada model very soon...

2022 Nissan Frontier: new pix...

As you can see from the shape of the license plate, this is actually not the all-new 2022 US market Nissan Frontier. (Plus it doesn't match the super square/blocky look of the Frontier prototypes we have already seen)
As a few people have mentioned in the comments of my previous post, this appears to be a version of the revised Nissan Navara. Which is actually called "Frontier' in some markets.

New Nissan Pick-up: is it the new Frontier?

Let's hope not. The early spy shots we have seen of the next generation Frontier looked a bit better.
( HERE and HERE

With a more squared-off design. So I am not sure what this is. But I think it could be a revised Navara, the Frontier's overseas's cousin.

What do you think?

2021 Nissan Frontier: a better look

We can finally see a bit more of the all-new 2021 Nissan Frontier.
We know the powertrain will be similar to the revised 2020 model.
Which means a 9 speed automatic with the new 3.8 Liter V6 (currently rated at 310HP in the 2020 model)
The Frontier had a huge price increase for 2020. As it went up by $7500 from the previous year.
Which will allow Nissan to price the all-new one slightly above and claim "a very small price increase (or none at all) over the previous generation".

Even with the new price, it is in line with the current V6 competition. (although the 2020 version is a 15-year-old design)

I still do not understand why Nissan doesn't combine our Frontier with the overseas Navara pick-up.
Which, it seems, would save them tons of cash...
Ford is basically offering the same Ranger all over the world these days.

2021 Nissan Terra

Hard to see much, but the top photo is the all new generation Nissan Terra.
The other pic shows the new Terra's silhouette as part of the Nissan's recent Teaser showing all their upcoming models.

Since we have the Rogue and Pathfinder, we don't get the Terra in the US. If we did, it would be more of a replecement for the old X-Terra. Since it is based on the Navara pick-up truck.

They could still bring it over here. As it seems there is a market for more "trucky" SUVs these days.
Why not...

This is the current generation Terra SUV.

All new Nissan Terra.

I mentioned the new Terra before (HERE)

This is still not an official shot. But it doesn't look too good...
Like a weirder version of the Pathfinder.

Nissan has recently hinted there might be a new X-Terra in the works for the US market.
So let's hope this isn't it. Nissan needs to put a little more effort into it.
Maybe a shorter, 5 seater version of the next Pathfinder.

Or they might actually send us this one from China.

Last year, they were claiming the Sticks was not for the US. That we would be getting a different model. And we got the exact same Stick sold overseas.
Same thing will probably happen with the next Frontier Pick Up. Which will probably end up being the 3 year old Navara sold around the world.

Ford is doing it too. At first the EcoSport was never coming here. Now it is. (Although it is now old...)
Same thing with the new Ranger. They claimed over and over the US would get a new design.
Turns out the one we are getting will be the same one everyone else around the world has had for years.

All these lies. So weird.... Why?

More pictures of the Mercedes X-Class

So this is NOT coming to the US, and we a re probably not missing much.

The production version looks pretty lame when compared to the concept we saw last year.
Sure, it's a pick-up truck. But it is also a Mercedes, and will likely be priced above anything else in its segment.
I actually think the Nissan Navara looks better (Above). And by the way, Nissan needs to get their act together and bring this over as the new Frontier.
Before everyone forgets about the Frontier....

From the rear, the production model makes the concept looks futuristic. Which is kind of sad.

The interior actually looks pretty much the same, except for a few trims and color bits.
And it is still kind of a mess.

Again, I don't think we are missing much. I think the VW Amarok and Nissan Navaro (and its Renault Cousin) all look much nicer than this.

2015 Nissan Navara/Frontier video

Still not sure if this is close to the US version we might be getting next year.
(Nissan US is even saying they are focusing on a new Titan before a new Frontier.)
So we might have to wait even longer.

It has also been rumored that this truck could be a joint venture with Mitsubishi.
Which might explain the 7 speed Auto option instead of a Nissan CVT. (The US might get the CVT anyway)

All new 2015 Nissan Compact pick-up truck

But is it the new Frontier?

Obviously these pictures are of  right hand drive model.
So it is mostly a new version of the overseas Navara model.
(Which is pretty much the Frontier anyway...)

Some sites are saying this is a Mitsubishi based truck. So not the new  Frontier.

What do you think.
"2015 Frontier' or "NOT 2015 Frontier"???
