2017 Porsche Panamera

This is it. I'm pretty sure.
And it looks almost exactly like the spy brochure picture I posted a while ago (Except the wheels. This is a Turbo model)

I think it looks great. Much better than the current, heavy and clumsy design.
This is actually what it should have looked like in the first place.

Much more pictures coming very soon, so "stay tuned".

We will also see a wagon version later.

2017 Genesis G80

Basically a Hyundai Genesis with small revisions.
Which, I guess, is fine. Since it will be much more popular than the big G90 sedan, it will help the new brand.
The real news will be when they launch an all new SUV next year.
Since it will sell much more than any of their sedans. That model will actually put the brand on the map.
For now, they just have a rebadged mid sized sedan and the big giant luxury boat (almost) no one will actually buy.

Engines on the G80 are the regular 3.8 Liter V6 with 315HP  or a 3.3 Liter V6 turbo with 365HP.
The Turbo is available with a new Sport version of the sedan.

2018 Kia GT

Kia has been testing a production version (top) of the 2011 GT Concept (bottom)for a while.
As you can see, it looks fine and pretty much ready to go.

And, pretty close to the concept.
But it's been 5 years. Five-years....

So nothing futuristic here.

Seems like it could be based on the Hyundai Genesis sedan. Which will be rebadged the
Genesis G80 or G70 very soon.

Which I guess would then , be... competing with Genesis.
These guys don't really seem to have a clear separate path for both brands.
Kia and Hyundai.
Looks like Kia now competes with both Hyundai and Genesis.

The good part is, it will probably be yet another really nice design from Kia.
So I really can't wait to see the final model.

2017 Lexus IS

Lexus released a teaser for the 2017 version of their IS compact sport sedan. (Above)
At first I thought it really looked like an all new car.
But it's really too early for that.

And if you try and guess lines, you can tell it's still the same car.
It actually looks like all the metal parts are the same. (hood, fenders)
Just the bumper/grille section is new.
Or so it seems.

We just got a new 2.0 Liter engine for it, so things should stay the same.
Unless there is a brand new 3.0 Liter Turbo in the cards?

Something you don't see every day...

I saw it in Malibu a few days ago, driving right behind me.
A couple of days later, it was in Hollywood

Of course, the douchebag behind the wheel was driving like an asshole. Too fast, swerving abruptly. Staring at girls, making sure they'd notice.

I don't think this is on sale yet. So it could be some Honda guy or a journalist.

Opel GT Concept

From the teaser video we saw just a few days ago, I was expecting "Opel is reinventing itself". And "don't miss what happens next".
Well, that GT Concept is not happening next, I can tell you that much.

There are some interesting things here, for sure. Like the colored windows on the outside, the way the door opens .
But red tires? Really? And that grille where there shouldn't be one.

This is pretty disappointing. Not because it is not a cool design. But because it's pretty much a goofball of a car. Something we will never ever see.
And I can't really imagine this inspiring any future models for Opel.

2017 Ford Fusion

The model pictured above is the new Sport version.
It comes with a 2.7 Liter Turbo V6 with 325HP and AWD.

I really like the Fusion. I think it is one of the very best mid size car available in the US.
It drives and looks great. (It also has a more European feel than any VWs sold here.)

The changes to the front and rear do not ruin the great design. Thank God.

Inside, it looks like the main change is in the center console. Where the shifter has now disappeared.

Here are a couple of pictures of the current version.
So we can all remember the recent past...

2016 Infiniti Q50

Very subtle changes fort the Q50 sedan. Nothing anyone will notice.
(2016 on top)

 Same thing inside.

The big news are under the hood.
The old "smooth but thirsty"3.5 Liter is gone.

Now replace by the new 2.0 Liter with 208HP standard.
Or the 3.0 Liter Turbo with 300HP. And a 400HP version is now also available (!) called "Red Sport 400"

The "old" Hybrid version with the 3.5 Liter is somehow still on the menu.

Seems like a lot of changes. making the good looking Q50 even more competitive than before.
And now with Mercedes engines!

2016 Honda Civic Coupe

First official picture of the all new coupe version of the 10th generation Civic!!

So far, the usual for a Civic coupe. Same engines as the sedan.
Same new features, like available LED headlights, Apple Car play, 7 inch screen, heated seats etc...

MPG for both engines comes to a 35MPG average.
All this and 5 inches more rear leg room!

I still think that such a design should really be a hatchback. I mean it looks 100% like one.
But has none of the advantages.
So weird...

More very soon.

Mercedes SL

The front end is all new.
And, in my opinion, much better than before.
Unfortunately. The rear end hasn't changed much. ( I guess that would have required too many new metal parts)

Inside, I am glad they have not added the floating tablet to the dashboard.
The screen was high enough, and they just made it larger.
It also now gets a new 9 speed automatic.

It's still not as fantastic as an SL should be. But it is better...

2017 Fiat 124 VS. 2016 Mazda Miata

Just though I would try to compare the two.
From these pix we have all seen these last couple of days.

At first (from grainy phone pix, I know) , they do seem quite different.
The hood of the Fiat seems quite a bit longer, taller.  Which I personally like.
So does the trunk. There might be a new crease line running along the side (Hard to see, but it could be an attempt to match the original design)

I haven't been a big fan of the new Miata, so the Fiat does look better to me.
I also really like the silver finish around the windshield.

But inside... It's just too bad. Both cars look exactly the same.
I mean, the new Miata does have a really nice interior. But I really wish Fiat had spent just a little bit of money to make their model  more special. Come on....

Here is the original convertible version of the old Fiat 124.
The Pininfarina design still looks fantastic.

You can see the new one is just a Miata trying very hard to look a little bit like this.
Maybe it'll work.
(We'll definitely have to wait for better pictures)

What do you think?
(You can take the poll on the top left of this page.)

2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport

This is pretty much the newest generation of what was sold here as the Montero Sport.
Up until 2004.

Mitsubishi seems to be abandoning the sedan market. At least in the US. To concentrate on SUVs and EVs.
(What a weird combo)

So this could very well make it over here.
Just like the old one. This is a truck, not a car.
It is based on the new L200 compact pick up truck.

This is the L200 pick up.
Which by they way, they could also be selling here. Why not???

If they really want to become a truck company.

2016 Renault Alpine?

These pictures were sent to me by a European reader.
They are supposedly showing the production version of the upcoming Renault Alpine.

Which, if true, would be great. As they really take advantage of the Alpine history.
Just like the Mustang and Camaro have done lately. (And of course the Beetle and Mini)

Here is the concept we saw just a few days ago.
If real, the production model shown above would be really close.

And here is the inspiration for all this: The old Alpine A110.
Designed by Michelotti, and produced from 1961 until 1977.
(A 1969 model is pictured here)

Michelotti was the genius who also designed cars like the Triumph TR4 and Stag, as well as the BMW 2002!

So, what do you think?
Are these pictures above the real thing???

(I mean, the tiny door handles and super thin rear view mirrors still say "concept" to me...)

2016 Camaro: even more pix.

I'm just going to say that it probably looks really good in the flesh.
