European version of the new Honda Civic Hatchback

Words are colliding in my head to describe this...

What a horrible mess. Just when you though the US version was overdone, Honda proves us it can do even worse.
I mean, just look at the amount of crappy looking black plastic trim all over this car.
This is a bad design made worse.

Pretty amazing.

A while ago, I was pretty excited when Honda announced the return of the hatchback in the US Civic line. What a great idea! What could go wrong?

This has to be maybe the worse Honda design of all time. And pretty much the worse looking hatchback on the market.
Here, it will compete with "beauties" like the Mazda3, Cruze hatchback, Focus etc...
In Europe, it is in the same segment as the Golf, Astra, Megane etc...

I just cannot imagine who would want to spend their hard earned money in such a visual nightmare.

Honda should be ashamed.

New Chrysler 200 & 300 commercials.

These are some of the saddest car commercials I've ever seen. I don't mean to blame the actors. It's not their fault, really. (Except accepting that job)
But the idea is horrible. The writing should be punished.
Jokes don't work. You can tell it wants to be funny but it's not, etc...
The worst.
Plus, we can't even see the cars?! All they talk about is patriotic/election/fake politics BS.
Not really enough to actually sell a car.
Who is this even for? I mean who wants to buy a new car from two old guys pretending to be the president?!?!

After announcing the premature death of the Chrysler 200, now they advertise it???
Who is going to actually buy one now?

And that poor "5 years old" 300 sedan has no replacement in sight.
They were supposed to be working on a next one based on the new Giulia platform.
But the Alfa has had many troubles lately. (Weird handling, not passing internal crash tests etc...)Due to "Crazy Marchionne"s mandate to come up with a brand new platform in just 2 years.
So now it's late. Very late...
(Since he blamed the designers for the 200, he'll probably blame the engineers for he Giulia.)

As I mentioned before, I think Marchionne's goal is to kill Chrysler/Dodge, and sell Jeep/Ram to someone else. Anyone. As long as they give him money for it.

It is sad to see such lame commercials trying to sell what are very decent cars.
Cars doomed by the crazy guy running the company...

But!. To make everyone feel better, here are some GREAT old timey Chrysler commercials.
Cool cars with a cool actor! And you actually see the car! They were proud of it!

Back when the guy in charge actually cared.

WTF???

These are pictures of a Japanese version of the all new 2016 Toyota Prius.
So I am not sure if this particular color is available in the US or not.

Still... Just look at this mess.

I have to say, I am not anti Prius. At all. I actually liked the design of the previous version.
(And I like colors. It's actually sad to see our streets filled with grey/black/white cars.)
I also have many friends who drive them, and, good for them, are very happy.
( I must say that all these people have one thing in common: they all hate driving)

The problem is how ugly the new one is. And it always surprises me when I see new pix.
Above all, that horrible color does nothing to help. It's almost a joke at this point.
A really bad joke from hell.

As I mentioned before, I actually sat in it. And it is even worse in person. Since the plastics are all pretty hard and cheap.
(For a car that isn't that cheap)

There are no excuses, in 2016, for a main stream car design to look like this.

Volvo S90 VS.Jaguar XF

I keep comparing the 2 cars. I know...

But, to me, they are both shocking in their own way.
The S90 interior is shocking because it is so great. And coming from such a "blah brand" like Volvo. A brand that most people had written off. A brand that is not associate with style.

The XF is also shocking. Because how bad it looks.
And that is coming from a very prestigious brand with a huge history of style and elegance.
The Volvo interior is so good looking. And even original.
It is truly competing with the best in its class.

And,Volvo is saying it will be priced under the $50 000 XC90.
While the Jag starts at $52 000!

Meanwhile, at Jaguar, things are flat and boring. Almost sad.
I mean look at this!

Basically devoid of any style. A coldness that was never associated with British cars before.
( I sat in it, and I can tell you, it's not better in person)
And while Volvo has found an amazing way to display wood, Jaguar seems to be doing its best to hide it.

We have officially entered the "Bizarro World".

2016 Audi A4: Why???

Yes, why.

Why bother redesigning a car to make it look exactly the same?
Why not just "improve" the current one?
Why ruining the interior?
Why a 1996 design for a 2016 model?

I understand the "classic", "understated" excuses. But understated doesn't mean you copy the same design over and over.
This becomes one of these generic cars you used to see in architectural illustrations.
And the interior is far from understated. With bits, lines, dials everywhere. It's just clumsy.

Why???

(The yellow car is the "all new one")

2016 Audi A4

 OK... This is horrible.

I mean really. This is in NO WAY better looking than the current model.
Of course, it is lighter, more fuel efficient, and has yet another Audi take on "new" headlights.
But this is supposed to be an all new car.
Even BMW does a better job. This is by no mean "ugly ". That's not what I mean.
But an all new car should look maybe at least 5% different than the one it replaces.

There is no excuse for this crap.

But wait, there is worse! Inside.
Look at this.
I mean this is worse than the current interior. By far.
The new Audi interior design theme was previewed by the new (And equally horrible) Q7 interior.

Sure, the plastic must be of high quality. Etc...(As they are now). But look at the flat, uninspired dash. None of that interior looks as good as the current one. And there is either too much metal trim everywhere, or too much wood!
I mean just compare this to the new C Class interior. (!!!)

Audi is slowly but surely, replacing all its models by worse looking designs. (A3 Hatch, Q7, R8 and now A4).
It's is shame.
