2017 Infiniti Q60 price.

The all new Infiniti Coupe will start at $38 950. For the 2.0 Liter Turbo version.
(basically $40 000 after transportation)

Which is about $4000 more than the Q50 sedan it is based on.

Infinitis are just fine, good cars. And the coupe has always looked pretty good.
But they really do not have much of an image in the luxury car market.
Sad but true.

So let's see how it compares to its current competition:

-The BMW 4 series coupe starts at $42 845
-The Lexus RC 200T starts at $40 945
-The new Audi A5 (AWD only for now) starts at $42 150
-The new Mercedes C class Coupe starts at $43 575

Not sure what comes standard with the Infiniti, but they usually give you a bit more stuff than the Germans for the base price.
Still. It is not that much less than the competition.
Yet it has none of the prestige. And it doesn't have the super reliable reputation of the Lexus either.

I don't think the new Q60 will change much for Infiniti.
Their coupe will still mostly be invisible in the market place. No matter how good it is.

I think the only thing they could have done is come up with an amazing, stand out design.
But they didn't....

2017 Honda Gienia

This is yet another small Honda based on the Fit.
This time it looks like a 4 door coupe version of the regular Fit. More or less...

The car pictured above isn't look that great. With its lack of trim around the windows and small wheels.

It is based on the Concept B we saw a while ago. And again, this is not planned for the US. Or anywhere outside of China. Yet...
This is the Concept version.
Which is actually really close to the production model and does look fine.

Future Alfa Romeo Coupe???

These were sent to me by a reader from Europe.

Not sure what they are really.
It's obviously an Alfa. And it has 2 doors.

Otherwise who knows.
It's also obviously not a production model because of the lack of real side mirrors.

A few years ago the car that was going to share a platform with the Miata was going to be an Alfa.
But since Sergio had said that "no Alfa will be built outside of Italy", that couldn't work out.
So it became the Fiat 124 we have now.

I just wonder if this was a design for that still born Alfa model.
But Sergio had also said a sport coupe/convertible was still coming from Alfa. (NOT based on the Miata)
So this could be a preview of that...

What do you think??

2017 Audi A5

Just like any other new Audi (Except maybe the Q2), there are zero surprises here.
And just like the new A4, it is a clone of the previous generation.
Which, in the case of the A5, seems to be OK. Since the current model still looks really good.

I've always really liked the current generation. And its interior.
Unfortunately, the new A5 inherit the sad looking interior of the new A4.
Which is quite a step backward from the previous one.
(Same thing with the new Q7)

I am sure it is a great car. But that flat, uninspired dashboard is quite a let down...

More very soon.

2017 Audi A5

Wow... How sad is this.

An official teaser from Audi, showing a camouflage prototype of the "all new" A5.

And, of course, it looks like the same car as the one we have now.
Just like the A4, it will be a slightly squared off version of the current model.
With the new A4 terrible interior. Which is much worse than it was before.

The current A5 interior is still very, very nice.

I always wonder why car makers use pictures of their camouflaged prototypes as teasers.
Since we have seen much better pictures of that car already...

Lexus LC

Just a few new pictures. (Or at least they are new to me since I haven't seen them before)
This particular one is the Hybrid version.

While it does look great even in red. (Most pictures of the LC are of the red one)
In a more "regular" color it looks really fantastic.

Even the Lexus grille everyone loves to hate works here.
It just feels part of the whole thing. A lot has to do with the lines at the edge of the headlights matching the meeting the smaller part of the grille. All these lines got where they are supped to.
Unlike most other Lexus models.
(I simple thing done wrong most of the time.)

I actually cannot wait to see this. And I know there will be plenty of them around here in L.A
Lexus has already hinted it might be priced slightly bellow the BMW 6 series.
(As it should be, really)

So they're not pulling an Acura on us. Who priced the NSX like an Aston Martin.

This is what an expensive car should look like.

2017 Mercedes GLC Coupe

Forget that stupid "coupe" name.
What you see here is the C-Class Hatchback. Slightly raised up.
And I think it looks great.
So we'll be probably getting the same engines as on the C-Class sedan.
They do mention the new 9 speed Auto ( I think the C-Class still ash the 7 speed. For now at least)

Interestingly enough, there is also a plug-in Hybrid version with an EV range of about 20 miles.
A nice idea, but these days I would think 30 miles would be a minimum. Especially for a higher end brand.

And.. Why such a tiny sunroof??
Mercedes offers great glass panels on almost all their cars now. (Even the C-Class)
This looks like it's from an old Infiniti.

Volvo C90

Volvo seems to have copyrighted a bunch of coupe names. Like C60 and even C40.
Which means the next S60 sedan will also come as a coupe, and maybe a convertible.

That would put Volvo right up there with Audi, BMW and Mercedes. Who are offering now pretty much every possible version of their various series.

And, a coupe version of the super good looking new S90 sedan seems like a no brainer.
We already know a wagon is coming.
A coupe and convertible would be a great addition. Matching what Mercedes has been doing with the E-Class.

More pictures of the all new 2016 Honda Civic Coupe

What is wrong with Honda's PR department?!?!
A few months ago we got these "1st official" horribly fake looking pictures of the new Civic sedan.
Now we get horribly depressing interior color. I mean look at this!

Grey interiors can be nice. Very nice.
But this is terrible. It makes the whole thing look like a horrible place to be.
Which is really too bad since the interior design is actually fine.
(Although not a big fan of the weird fake looking metal/plasticky thing along the dashboard)
Let's hope they do have another color combo at the auto show...

Now for the car. I think the rear view looks pretty heavy. Almost weird.

And again, good luck loading stuff through what has to be a tiny trunk opening.

But, no matter what, it is great to see a giant car maker like Honda still coming up with 2 door cars.
This is pretty rare.
Good for them for still offering coupe versions of the Civic and Accord.

2016 Honda Civic Coupe

First official picture of the all new coupe version of the 10th generation Civic!!

So far, the usual for a Civic coupe. Same engines as the sedan.
Same new features, like available LED headlights, Apple Car play, 7 inch screen, heated seats etc...

MPG for both engines comes to a 35MPG average.
All this and 5 inches more rear leg room!

I still think that such a design should really be a hatchback. I mean it looks 100% like one.
But has none of the advantages.
So weird...

More very soon.

2017 Infiniti Q60

The coupe version of the Q50 sedan will be, of course, the Q60. (Illustration above)
(The current Q60 is just the old G37 )

The big news is that it will use Mercedes engines.
At least the 2.0 Liter and the 3.0 Liter Turbo are boing test (By Mercedes) right now.
I wonder if that means goodbye to the old "thirsty but smooth" 3.5 Liter.
(Which is now being used in pretty much every single Infiniti model in the US.)

I am a big fan of the 3.5 Liter. But it IS thirsty.
I also didn't know the partership between Nissan and Mercedes included more than the 2.0 Liter engine and the A/B/CLA/GLA platform...

I guess this will make the Q60 a more direct competitor to the new Mercedes C Class coupe.
But why? Unless it is much cheaper?

Mercedes S-Class Convertible

I am a big fan of the S-Class coupe. So this is quite amazing to me.
I cannot really imagine this thing looking even better in person, but I am sure it does.

I have to say, this is what I would get if I had the money...

So please. Tell ALL your friends about this
Once it becomes the most popular car site on the internet, this beauty will be within my reach.

2017 Mercedes C-Class coupe

Finally, after all these spy shots over the years. the real thing!

It does look great. Like a cross between the stunning S Class coupe and the "old" C class coupe.

But... I cannot help but being a tiny bit disappointed. I know I am being very picky (especially after seeing such horrific recent designs as the Lexus LS and Honda Accord coupe)
But that little 'rear swoop" rear side window design makes it look a bit too much like the current model.
Which, I guess, might have actually been the point.
It just isn't as great as the S class coupe. (Which, I also assume, it shouldn't be. At less than half the price...)

So far, I've only heard of the 300  (with a 2.0 Liter Turbo) and all 4Matic models. But I am sure the 400 (V6) would be offered later in the US. As well, of course, as the AMG version.

Finally a really good looking car to talk about these days!

Hyundai Vision G Concept Coupe

Besides the stupid name, this is actually quite stunning.
And quite amazing for a Hyundai.
I think this is the 1st Hyundai design that truly looks like a luxury model to me.
It even has a British car feel to it. Almost old fashion.
Quite surprising.

There was a rumor last year about the next Genesis coupe becoming more of a luxury coupe.
This would definitely fit the bill.
Except that Hyundai concepts have never, ever become production designs.
They have been teasing us with great concepts for years.

Let's hope it changes with next years all new Genesis Coupe.

2016/17 Lexus SC

There is an all new LS sedan coming out. Really soon.
And it will be joined later any an all new SC coupe.

Just like previous versions, the coupe won't look like a 2 door version of the sedan.
This time it will pretty much be a production version of the gorgeous LF- LC concept we saw a while ago.

As you can see on these pictures, the production version seems to keep most of the concept's proportions intact. Or very close.
