2022 Ford Mondeo: here it is…

Last Updated:

This is the all-new generation Ford Mondeo for the Chinese market.
As far as I know, there will be no Fusion version for the US.
These are real photos of the car pictured in the illustrations (HERE) I posted just yesterday.
Of course, the real thing is a little exciting, but this is still a very nice-looking sedan.
I am not sure it actually looks that much better than the Fusion that was canceled last year though.
That car still looked great.
And also, still, was quite popular when canceled. With over 166 000 sold in 2019.
From what we see in these photos, there are obviously a few different versions of the new Mondeo. We can already see 3 different front-end designs. And 3 roof treatments.
The only powertrain mentioned so far is the usual 2.0 Liter Ecoboost. With 238HP.
No mention yet of a hybrid or PHEV. Which the previous Fusion had offered for years.

  1. The big question is what platform it's on. It looks like a top-hat'd CD4… the profile is so similar. And why not – it's a good platform.
But the Evos, which this may be similar to, had it's mule built on a C2 – which is a very flexible platform. So just another C2 variant.
    Time will tell.

  2. Looks great to my eyes. It even seems to ride higher which might attract a few SUV buyers back to cars. Like your site, Vince.

  3. I forgot to add that it also appears Ford has moved away from its use of Aston Martin grills. 'Bout time.

  4. As anticipated, those slick drawings translated into dull reality. Don’t be fooled by designers’ elongated bodies, chopped rooflines and big wheels. Real cars look no more like their sketches than Marvel movie stars look like their comic book progenitors.
