2023 Kia EV4: new illustration…

Last Updated:

It seems Kia is on track to introduce a smaller electric model by the end of next year. Called the EV4.

It is scheduled to be introduced after the planned “large EV SUV”. The EV4 will be based on the same E-GMP platform as the EV6 and Ioniq 5, but will be smaller. The illustration above shows something that looks a lot like the current Kia Soul. Since it is based on that EV platform it will not be an electric version of the next Soul. But I wonder if, by 2023, the new EV4 could actually be replacing the Kia Soul…

EVs are starting their unstoppable take over the car market. And it seems to be happening quicker than previously expected.

  1. The next 2-3 years are going to see an explosion of EV models. But who is going to buy them all? Most of them are in the $40,000++ range, which limits the number of buyers, and then there is the issue of charging, both at home and around town. There are people that simply can't charge at home (renters, etc), and as well have seen the public charging network is crap right now.

  2. Doug, that's a feature and not a bug. There's one public charger in my small city of 42,000 that isn't a Tesla charger. That charger is at a gas station and half the time it's down and out. The longest trips I take these days is about 250 miles. Mass., NY, PA. The NY Thruway chargers get horrible reviews. Supposedly the best going around. All kinds of reviews that say at certain rest stops, they send you outback and most of the time they don't work. Many times people have to resort using an external wall outlet by the dumpsters. No way I'm going to gamble on that.

It's to keep control on people so they can't travel unless they have the money to travel. In other words the elites Even then it's a joke. I could buy a Tesla Plaid and it would sting like crazy but far from break me. But, I'm not going to subject myself to that kind of stuff.

What's the over/under that the Hyundai/Kia/Genesis 800 Volt chargers ever make it to the US?
    Not going to happen.

Now a hybrid or a plug in one? Sure, why not. Best of both worlds.
