2022 Honda Civic: 1st official pic…

Last Updated:

Today we have the first official photo of the all-new 2022 Honda Civic Sedan.
As expected, it looks more like a small Accord than an evolution of the current Civic.
It actually seems to be the cleanest of all 3 designs. With a tastefully small grille. At least from that angle, this top-of-the-line Touring model doesn’t look too bad. It now competes with the more conservative small sedans like the Kia K3, instead of pushing the envelope a bit.
What do you think?

  1. It actually looks surprisingly good from that angle and truly much cleaner than the other designs.

  2. Boring.
Same story with the next CRV. Honda is that the best you can do?
I believe that Honda, Toyota keep thinking that costumers will keep buying their vehicles solely relaying on their reliability vehicles. Well, other car manufactures are catching up in that area.
Even the current Civic does not have a blind spot monitor, why would Honda stick to their stupid side camera instead instead of the BSM most manufactures are using now?

The current Accord is decent, but the ugly rear end. Same thing with this new Civic, ugly rear end.
What about innovation, what about a decent radio (sound) blind spot monitoring (new design on the inside of the vehicle instead of the outside.
I just spent about $30K in a new 2021 Rav4 and the radio is awful. The current CRV's top of the line's radio is just OK.

Not crazy about this new Civic Vince. I would rather but a Mazda 3 if I was in a market for a small vehicle. And then, if I'm gonna spend that king of money in a small vehicle like the Civic, why not just get an Accord for some extra cash.

Vince thanks for this great website, I do check it out at least twice per day. Great job.

  3. I agree with the above. it's just a snoozefest. inoffensive might be good for taste-free american buyers, but many do want real design. and yes the mazda 3 is a good example of compact hatchback/sedan done in an interesting, tasteful way. the civic has lost its way years ago. this ain't cutting it. and it still has the horrid mono-brow, just, it's color coded.

  4. "I was just wondering why you picked the RAV-4 over others."

    I had many cars in the past ( a lot) and I'm a middle class guy. I had a 2014 Subaru Forester XT and loved it (decent power and handling}
Then got a 2019 Honda CRV, OK power and lots of room but couldn't get over front look, the huge front/hood. Decent MPG.
Then last year I got a 2020 Mazda CX5, decent powertrain and suspension, fun to drive, OK Bose system, BUT small cargo. I wish Mazda have upgraded their old six speed transmission too. Even though it is smooth but it could benefit from better MPG.

I do the food shopping at home Vince and me my peeps love to take long drives. The cargo space was way too small. The CX5 with the turbo was great but the cargo again, too small.
    I don't lease, I buy.
If I had more cash or if I could have justify more money for a vehicle I would definitely have gotten an Acura RDX over the Volvo XC40.

So, to finally to answer your question, why the Rav4?
Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, better than Honda and Mazda safety system, it is upgraded on the Rav4.
8 speed automatic (Honda CVT was decent).
I like the look of my Rav4 over the CRV and the CX5. I wish I had more power on the Rav4, but I'm not a kid so I don't speed. It is a crossover not a sport car. Ok MPG, decent cargo area, reliable and good crash test.

My perfect crossover would be a 2021 Subaru Forester Sport White (My wife's ride now) paired with the old 2018 Subaru Forester XT engine. Sadly no more turbo on the Forester.
Other than the engine, I love everything about it, the looks, the handling, the radio, the safety, specially the Rear Brake Assist.

Anyhow, Vince I love cars and I love the info you provide to the rest of us.

  5. the orange ''prototype'' photos Honda passed out earlier made the 2021 Civic seem kinda dull and cartoonish. This 2021 top photo looks a lot better in the flesh. Sorta reminds me of sort of the new bmw sedans.
    – Looks just more cleaner and mature. I have seen some of the new 2021 Civic interior photos, maybe they were poor quality , but i was disappointed. Again, who knows once the final production version and photos released? it may look much nicer then i figured.
