Ford Equator: new pix…

Last Updated:

The new Ford Equator is a classic-looking SUV for the Chinese market…
Somehow, it reminds me a bit of the Cadillac XT-6. But better. The exterior has more personality, and the interior is much more modern. And actually seems more luxurious.
Although it has 3 rows of seats available, it is about 6 inches shorter than our Explorer. Power comes from Ford’s 2.0 Liter Ecoboost.
I am not sure this would fit in the US lineup. Since its sizes put it right in between our Edge and Explorer.
Although the Edge will be replaced by the new Evos wagon. And a 5 seater version of this Equator would be shorter.
So, why not…
What do you think? Should Ford offer a 5 seater Equator in the US?

  1. This actually looks like a slightly taller version of what I'd expect the upcoming Fusion Evos to look like.

  2. The interior looks better than any SUV Ford sells in the US. Kind of reminds me of the Hyundai Palisade interior, a vehicle I personally own, especially the center console design.

  3. Not bad looking, even though it has a dare I say generic Asian look to it, not that many Ford vibes (although inside that's a good thing)

  4. great interior, so much better than the black or very, very dark grey look of the US-products. Love the colors and the shapes. The exterior, however, is completely anonymous. Take off the (Ford) badges and it would impossible for anyone to figure out what type of car this is.. Hyundai? BMW? Kia? Chevy? some Chinese-market brand?

  5. The Evos wagon is replacing the Edge? First Ford says they are dropping all their cars for SUVs. Now they are replacing an suv with a a wagon? Hard to keep straight whatever Ford is up to…
