Mystery Ford SUV: what is it?

Last Updated:

 This is obviously a Ford…

I was told it could be the next generation Ecosport. Which does make some sense since the current Ecosport came out in 2012 (although only in 2018 in the US)

But the grille in the photo above is mostly fake. Which also means it could be an EV. We know Ford has been working on a “smaller than Mustang Mach-e” electric model. They also have some deal with VW to share their MEB platform.

What do you think?

What is this?

  1. No basis for this but the shape just makes me think Edge. The edge did just get an MB like interior for China.

Sidenote: I think the Edge is a useless, and ugly vehicle in the lineup. I really think they could spend less money to develop a car about this size by shortening the Explorer and floating out the roof. Sure it will look like a fake Range Rover sport, but it would sell like hot cakes.

  2. Agreed.. Edge/Nautilus are the last remaining products built on the Fusion/MKZ/Continental platform, and their eventual replacements will likely be based on either a stretched Escape or shortened Explorer platform (my guess is the latter).

  3. from the ashes rises the reborn Ford Escort! Now with an Ecotech Turbo 2 cylinder rated at 102 HP/ 56 ft/lbs torque , a bluetooth 8-Track player, genuine vinyl non reclining seats , awd, a cvt with that mimics 18 forward gears and 12 reverse gears.
-42'' tablet style navigational touchscreen is standard.
    – 79'' tablet touchscreen will be optional.
    – front passenger seat also doubles as a bidet.

  4. Whatever they are replacing the Fusion with needs this face. It's still truck-ish and aggressive. Ford needs to up their game a bit and take more cues from their foreign teams.

  5. Too bad we won't get anything close to this stateside. Ford always gives us their most dull designs and watered down interiors.
