2021 Nissan Ariya: early news and pix…

Last Updated:

As we already know, the production version of the Ariya is shockingly similar to last year’s concept.
(although, what’s with the 2 shark fins???)
So far this is what we know.
It is still at least a year away in the USA. Since it will be available in Japan in about a year, and in the US a bit later.
The range is up to 300 miles. With the larger battery, and 2WD.
And of course, less with AWD or the smaller battery.
And it is now expected to start at around $40 000 in the US. Not the rumored $35 000.
And that will also be for the smaller battery.
So basically, $40 000 will probably get you a FWD Crossover with around 250 miles range.
Which is a bit more expensive than the Hyundai Kona EV or Chevy Bolt.
So far, this seems really nice. But not a game changer I was expecting.
More very soon.

  1. I watched the whole presentation. Absolutely a game changer. 87KWh is more than anything Tesla offers on the model Y, and that interior is absolutely gorgeous with the sliding center console. Include the rumored 40k price tag which undercuts the Mach E and the Model Y by couple of thousands and the 300 mile range (which the long range model Y does 315 with 75kwh so I trust the 300 is very conservative), this is the best EV crossover for the money

  2. That interior is a game changer in itself. It looks like a conventional car inside. Unlike Teslas which cost almost double and the interior looks like something you would find in an economy car.

  3. They did a wonderfull job and if probably it's not a game changer will be a reference for sure. Clean and modern design for one time are joined

  4. The fit and finish quality seems barely average as usual for Nissan. After all, this Nissan is another typical tall crossover. Nothing special about it at all.

  5. I would not make fun of Tesla, the model 3 is everywhere.
Plus, with the $3,000 off the MSRP of the Y, you will see even more of them too.

The Nissan is Aryia is a big game changer. With tax incentives/savings you will be able to get into an AWD model with the larger battery at a very good price.

I think the smaller battery should go to the smaller Leaf and keep the bigger set up in the larger Ariya.

  6. It’s definitely a game changer, as in changing from lacrosse to curling. Strictly minor league. Generic styling, minimal range, and won’t be here for years. By the time the Nissan arrives, Teslas will have 400 mile ranges and next gen self driving. Yawn.
