2022 Volvo XC-20?

There is a rumor about a new small Volvo. Which would basically be replacing the old V40 wagon. At least price-wise.
The illustration above shows what that new small Volvo could look like.
And of course, it is yet another SUV. Not a wagon like the V40 was...

I think Volvo will actually come out with a "coupe" version of the current XC-40 instead. Like the one HERE. (XC-50?)
But that would be more expensive than the XC-40.

Since the original redesign for the S40 became the Polestar 2 EV, it looks like there will be no new small Volvo sedan or wagon anytime soon...

2021 GMC Hummer Teaser

I guess we do get to see the whole thing on this. From above. And far away...

Another model delayed. The New "GMC Hummer" will be a high end luxury pick-up truck. Mostly competing with the upcoming one from Rivian (Whenever that comes out).

Chevrolet will probably get a cheaper version down the line as well.

2022 VW ID.4 Coupe

 Of course!
Since every single SUV VW maked has to have a "slightly sleeker" coupe version. Why not a "coupe" version of the upcoming ID.4 EV...

The ID.4 is based on the ID.3 hatchback, although it should be a bit larger.
Unlike the ID.3, this one (and probably the coupe version pictured above0 will make it to the US.
Starting price is expected to be around $35 000. Which would basically undercut all of its competition.
Including the Kona EV and Bolt.

Here is the "regular" version of the new ID.4.

I think in the US, its main competition might end up being the all-new Nissan Ariya.
And I think the Ariya looks much better.
Also, Nissan doesn't have the huge image problem VW has in the US.
On top of that, VWs are known over here for not being reliable at all.
Nissan is no "80's Mercedes", but I reslly think its reliability is far ahead of VW in the US...

Nissan now needs to price the Ariya at around the same price. (which means a new Leaf needs to be cheaper)
It will be quite interesting...

Next generation Mazda CX-5 (engines)

Mazda has already mentioned, a few months ago, they will have no new models for a couple of years.
So this info is probably regarding the next-generation CX-5. Also rumored to be called "CX-50" by then.
It looks like the all-new RWD Mazda 6 sedan might be the first new model to come out. Followed shortly after by the new "CX-50". Which means, they could very well be sharing platform. And that would mean a RWD CX-50...

The engine line-up above shows versions of the current base 2.5 Liter, but with a mild-hybrid system and a nice power boost to 190HP.
The 2.5 Liter Turbo looks like it could get a tiny power boost to 230HP.

There seem to be 2 diesel options, for overseas markets.
the big news is the all-new 3.0 Liter milf hybrid. Which must be the all-new inline 6 cylinder engine that has been rumored for a while (The all-new Mazda 6 will get is as well)
With 285HP, this Mazda CX-5 or CX-50 will be quite competitive.
Even against some much more expensive competition.

2 years is just a very long time in this business. And the competition is not waiting around...

2021 Genesis GV70 coming in October

The all-new GV70 SUV was scheduled for earlier. ( I heard Spring or Summer)
Since most people aren't buying cars these days. And since most cars aren't being built it the first place, what's the rush...

So now, the new GV70 might appear in October.
When, hopefully, things will be better in the world.

The GV70 is based on the G70 platform. And will use similar engines. Which will be a 2.5 Liter Turbo or a 3.0 Liter V6 turbo. Both engines are already available on the new G80 and GV80. And will be in the facelifted G70 sedan.

New sub-compact Alfa Romeo SUV coming up?

Apparently, FCA is getting a new small Alfa Romeo ready. (Illustration above. NOT the real thing) Something that would replace the small MiTo compact. The MiTo was canceled a couple of years ago, after 10 years on the market.

The new management at FCA realizes Alfa needs more than just 2 models. The production version of the compact Tonale is coming out soon. And this would even be smaller (And cheaper)

It's really too bad everything has to have some SUV shape these days to exist. But at the same time, it is good to see Alfa getting more models...

As a reminder, here is the MiTo. Which was only offered as a sporty 2 door hatchback.

Where are you from?

It's that time of the year (or not...) where I usually ask a few questions about people who visit the site.

Today, I am asking ( I did it a few times before) where are you guys from.

I know from the info I get about the site, most of the readers are from the US. But last time I checked it seemed that many of you were from around the world. Which is such a wonderful thing to know.
I am still in the (long) process of building/expending the site into something bigger and better. And hope to reach even more people...

As most of you know, I, myself, reside in Los Angeles California. Now, where are YOU from?

2021 Kia Sedona

Just another spy shots of the all new 2021 Kia Sedona minivan. Driving around...

Confirming a much more angular design. Which might end up looking like a big kia Should. With a front end more similar to the Seltos or the new Sorento (Which means "quite busy")

And yes, the new Sedona will still be sold in the US.

2021 Nissan Ariya

These new patent drawings for the production version of the Ariya EV look very similar to the concept we saw last year (color pix)
Which is actually not that surprising. Since the concept looked very close to production. (It even had fake rear side windows)

The concept looked great, and I am sure the production model has the potential to be quite a hit for Nissan. If priced right.
This looks quite compact, and will mainly compete with the upcoming Chevrolet "Bolt based Crossover" and existing models like the Hyundai Kona EV or electric version of the Kia Niro.

Let'a hope they price it low enough to compete. The long range Leaf is already starting at over $38 000. A crazy price that puts it right agains the superior Tesla Model 3.
The new Ariya needs to start at under $35 000 it Nissan wants to sell any.

Maybe this will basically replace the leaf in the US line up?

No matter what, this is shaping up top be a very nice looking car. Which is great news.

VW Vilaran Minivan Vs Buick GL8 Avenir

The new VW Viloran does look quite nice. And I really think it would have worked in Europe and especially the US, if the Minivan market had stayed popular...
It is a clean design with modern VW design cues. Sure, boring. But it probably will age just fine.

This wants to be a super luxury Minivan in China. With prices starting at over $50 000!
(In China!)
And I think the interior is just not up to the price. It is basically way too close to what we have here in the (much cheaper) Atlas. And the Atlas interior is far, far from great. Or special.

I think the new Buick GL8 Avenir looks moralize a luxury van. At least it is trying hard.
The dashboard is very original. Upscale and quite futuristic.

I am just surprised at the price of these things in China. I guess these are basically used as luxury cars for CEOs to be driven in. Or something...

2021 Genesis G80

Just saw this picture of a few new G80s parked in Korea, probably waiting to be delivered. (top)
And I noticed the wheel design I had not seen before. Which does look quite nice, if a bit busy.
Heading over to the configuration I found they were actually some of standard wheels on the base 2.5 Liter model. (bottom)
Good job for standard wheels. I think...

And by the way, you too can head over HERE and configure your own 2021 Genesis G80.
I must say, they do have plenty of colors to pick from, and many interior combos.

Mystery car/concept???

Not sure at all what this is...
It doesn't look like the upcoming small Alfa SUV (The Tonale)

It could very well be a study on a PSA platform? (already?)
Or small thing for the European market.

My hope it that it could be some new model for Dodge. Since the head of PSA has already mentioned they would keep every current brand alive. And God knows if Dodge needs something. Anything...

What do you think?

2021 Hyundai Santa Cruz rumored price

The all new Hyundai Santa Cruz pick-up is rumored to have a base price of slightly under $25 000.
(which could very well mean $24 995)
Which seems a very good deal when compared to the Honda Ridgeline, with starts at $34 000.
But the Ridgeline is probably larger and comes standard with a great V6.

At this price, the new Hyundai isn't that much cheaper as the well established, and almost legendary, Toyota Tacoma which starts at $26 000.
Of course, the Santa Cruz is a pick-up, but not a truck. Unlike the Toyota.
As it will share its FWD platform with other Hyundai models.

It is also much more expensive than the base Chevrolet Colorado which starts at $21 300.
The Ford ranger is also about $1000 cheaper.
I am sure Hyundai will advertise the car like quality of their new "car based" pick up. Which is great. And it will probably be seen as a slightly smaller Ridgeline instead of a true Tacoma competitor.

The right price and the right size could make this quite a hit...

2021 Toyota Yaris Cross

Good to see Toyota decided to give the "Yaris SUV" its own design.
Which ends up looking quite good too.

A much more conservative car than the CH-R. (no giant Toyota grille!) And, unlike the CH-R, this is also AWD.
And Hybrid. (The CH-R is also Hybrid only overseas)
As it is powered by a small 3 cylinder engine and electric motor.

It does look quite cheap inside. (on the picture above the rear doors have the basic black trim...), and it shares its dashboard (And its cheap looking tablet) with the regular 2020 Yaris.
Which is OK since it is probably pretty cheap...

And of course, this is not for us. So far...

2021 Mercedes S-Class

This is so far the best picture of the all new 2021 Mercedes S-Class interior I have seen.

Showing the giant vertical center screen.
You can also tell the other screen's plastic frame is not the real thing (Thank God...)

We'll have to wait a little bit longer to see the whole thing...

2021 Opel Mokka

The Opel Mokka was sold here for years (and still is), as the Buick Encore.
As we all know, Opel is now part of the PSA (Peugeot) group and GM will not have access to the new model.
(Our "Regular" Encore will be replaced with something else)

The new one teased above looks a lot more car-like and lower. And of course, will be based on a small Peugeot platform. And not sold in the US. Unless the PSA/FCA merger brings it over as something else over here...

2021 Audi A3 sedan video

Here is a video of the all new Audi A3 sedan. Especially showing the interior features.

This does look, as it should, quite upscale for a small sedan.

I can't wait to see it in other colors than grey.

2021 Kia Sedona

Just a few pix taken in a parking lot. Now you know for sure the new Sedona Minivan will be available with a double sunroof option.
In a quarantine day, that's big news!

2021 Audi A3 sedan

This is actually really good looking. At least to me.
The profile is really nice. A strange blend of classy yet aggressive.

The interior is still a bit weird to me. At least on these pictures (Maybe another trim and color...)
The center console looks really empty with the small Automatic transmission controler. I guess this is where a regular manual goes on the European models. But when replaced by this tiny control switch it looks a bit ridiculous.

The vents on top of the dash look a bit gimmicky. But the screen is very nicely integrated.
As for the door panels, there seem to be enough lines in there to design 4 or 5 doors...

The whole interior is a bit overdone but I wonder how it looks in the flesh.
I think it will compete well with the Mercedes A-Class. And will burry the horrible looking BMW 2 series GranCoupe thing.

VW Viloran minivan

The new VW Viloran is not a bad looking minivan at all.
Except fort that 'kind of old" looking interior. Which reminds me a bit too much of the Atlas, where everything seems flat.

It seems quite upscale. And probably almost luxurious. And if the market depended it, I am sure it would work in the US. As it seems quite large.
So far, the only engine is the usual 2.0 Liter Turbo VW is using everywhere.
( I bet a V6 would be welcome)

And this is only available in China. Since the only VW Minivan we will be getting is the upcoming production version of the I-D Buzz, whenever it is finally ready...
