LeapMotor LP-S01

I don’t know why, but I find this little Chinese Leapmotor 01 pretty cute.
It does remind me of the old Honda CRX.
I guess it’s the small coupe hatchback thing. (It looks like a 2 seater but they seem to have squeezed 2 super small seats in the back)
This time it is an EV, with a glass roof.
It does 0 to 60 in just under 7 seconds. With a range of around 250 miles.
Prices in China start at around $30 000 before incentives.
Why not?

  1. I agree…this is an overall nice design…the front is a bit unresolved – but sharp just the same. I see a pile of influences here.

  2. An 1986 CRX SI was my first car, so the CRX has always held a special place in my heart. I do think this looks like a solid take on a modern CRX. I really wish Honda would resurrect the CRX and the Prelude.

  3. This is exactly the kind of car the Chinese need to crack the American market. It will be 10 years before they can compete in quality even with a Chrysler, but cheap, fun cars that handle well with decent reliability is how the Japanese broke in. All they nned to do is make sure it has decent safety rating and make it a bare bones fun car like the original CRX. Price it at $10K and you have a winner.
