2019 Ford ranger testing in the US: no new design?

Last Updated:

This one was caught in the US recently.
As we know, we are getting a new Ford ranger in 2018, for the 2019 model year.
But a “new” ranger has been on sale for a few years overseas.
And it got an all new front end just a short while ago.

So let’s compare…

Here are two pictures of the ranger currently produced. but not available in the US.

At first glance, the spy shot looks the same.
But it isn’t really. The grille is different. Bumper etc…
But the hood seems exactly the same.

Is all we are getting in 2018 a facelift version of what’s been available overseas for years?
Nothing all new for us?

What do you think?

  1. Well, whilst most people would have expected that by the time the US gets the EcoSport, an all new model should be around, instead the US now gets the (btw, second) facelift of a not so fresh car anymore. Probably it will be the same with the Ranger, and, unlike the EcoSport, which somehow always was regarded as an under performer, there is nothing wrong with the current Ranger, still pretty much the most modern truck in it's segment.

  2. I really can't wait until this comes out. Do we think this will be what tj bronco will be based on? Or the f150-250? Will the bronco be a separate line that willl have a small medium large?
Regardless this will be a nice sut

  3. Yes that makes sense. They could pull an "ecosport" on us.

Yes, I think the Bronco will be based on this. Will probably end up being very close to the Ford Everest sold overseas.

  4. The much discussed refresh looks eerily similar to the standard front clip of the Everest…nothing wrong with that.
