2015 Ford Edge

Last Updated:

I must say, this is looking really good.
Not all new since it is pretty much the same design as the concept version we saw last year.
I am not too crazy about the front grille, which does resemble Hyundai SUVs.
But still. This is basically a Crossover version of the current Fusion, which is one of the very best driving sedan available today.
For the 1st time, the Edge will also be sold in Europe.
Standard engine (In the US) is the excellent 2.0 Liter Turbo with 245HP.
(Which is quite an amazing engine in the Fusion)
An optional new 2.7 Liter Turbo V6 with over 300HP will also be available.
I guess this will mostly do battle against the all new Nissan Murano. Another modern 5 seater Crossover.

  1. This is stunning. Nearly a knockout design. But I will agree that the front end design is a bit too conventional compared to the uniqueness of the rest of the car.

  3. This one breaks no new ground, but it carries on what the original started. And bad grills aside, the original was always pretty sharp.

What I don't particularly care for is, well, it just lacks character. In other words, there's very little "edge" to it. The front end is attractive enough, but at the same time very vanilla looking–it's not brawny and bold nor sexy and sleek. The rear is, like the "world's most excellent car ever the Fusion (I kid), just awkward, busy, and out of place.
And the rest could have come from virtually anyone; Hyundai, Toyota, Honda… you name it.

It's not offensive, that's for sure. Just a letdown for someone that values progress (I know, how crazy, huh?)

  4. Nothing offensive, but nothing daring either. Wonder if the Lincoln MKX will have the exact same greenhouse…like last generation?

  5. The green houses will be different. They are not doing that anymore. There are pictures of the MKX concept all over the place.

  6. The grill ties in the shape of the lower grill on the Ecosport. I think it looks good. It's definitely an evolutionary design as opposed to revolutionary which I think Ford needs to do for a while. However, that Murano is sexy.
