Ford Ecosport testing in the US

Last Updated:

This picture was taken in the US.
Which means Ford might be thinking seriously about selling us the small Fiesta Based SUV.
(I haven’t seen any Ecosport prototypes testing in the US yet)

It would deb right on time to compete with a revised Nissan Juke, but especially the all new Honda HR-V and the “just announced for the US” Chevrolet Trax.

Here is the one currently sold over seas. In China, Thailand, India and South America.
It uses a small 1.0 Liter engine similar to the one now available in the Fiesta.

  1. As usual, Ford releases the boring entry in this category. Do people even realize that they're buying a car when they go to a Ford store? Maybe they think they're getting a living room set, and that's just the box it comes in.

I guess they are still doing OK in sales (if the new F150 doesn't flop), but they should consider putting less Valium in their morning coffee.

  2. Disagree with Les. I think the ecosport looks cool except for the spare tire. I hope this comes here.

  3. I'm surprised that some people find this design interesting. I guess Ford knows their target audience.

I still think it's way too conservative and predictable when you compare it to the Jeep Renegade, Dacia Duster, Citroen C4 Cactus, and even the Chevrolet Trax. It's like a first draft: a taller Fiesta. Most designers throw away the first draft, but Ford takes it all the way to production.

  4. I live in Birmingham, Alabama. Saw one of these on the interstate this weekend. Couldn't figure out what it was. Now I know…for what that's worth. Only reason I noticed was because I hadn't seen one before.

  5. Last year, when I heard about this vehicle, and saw photos, on other sites…. this looked great, but now that I see vehicles like Renegade, HR-V, and others, Ford would have to "update" the looks for USA sales.

It is not bad, but it is kind of like the Dodge Dart… a good car, but it doesn't stand out(in looks) compared to some other vehicles in it's class; this even makes the 500L look interesting/exciting.
