Spark EV with 82 miles range rated at 119MPGe

Last Updated:

I don’t really care about these new MPGe ratings for electric cars.
What matters most to buyers is the range.
Even though 82 miles isn’t that much, it is better than the leaf which is rated at 73 miles.
they both take about 7 hours to recharge at 240.

The new Fiat 500 electric has a slightly better range at 87 miles.

GM hasn’t announced pricing yet, but it should by “under $25 000” after incentives.
So, more than the $21 000 Fiat.

The Spark EV also gives you more power than the gas model, at 130. With an amazing 400 pounds-feet of torque!
Which should result in quite a fun car to drive.

  1. Has to be priced equal to (or better than) the FIAT to be viable. Hybrids are cheap rides for cheapskates (or else toys for politically-correct billionare movie stars trying to identify with the "poor folk" who watch their flicks) It all comes down to operating costs over a 10-year period. You have to get unbelieveable (100 MPG++) savings on fuel to justify paying even $2k over the price of a 41 MPG Fiesta, Dart, Civic, Corolla, VW, etc.; all of which are $13,000-$16,000. And none of which will have the added cost of $4000-$7000 for a Lithium Battery after 4-6 years.

  2. This thing has so much more room inside than a Fiat 500, it's ridiculous. I would love one of these and cloud feel confident merging onto the highway with this vs the gas powered version.
