Questions for YOU.

Last Updated:

As always, I am trying to improve this site. And what better way than asking people who actually read it…
I have a couple of questions:

-Are you checking the site on a computer or a mobile device. Phone or tablet.
-Are you seeing the same site on the computer and the phone.
-My phone doesn’t seem to show me a specific mobile version of the site. Does yours?

Thanks for the help.
And mostly, thanks to all of you who are reading and checking the site on a regular basis.
You have no idea how much I appreciate it!

  1. 01) I usually check the site via my laptop or tablet, only using my smartphones occasionally.

    02) The site (essentially) renders the same across all my devices.

    03) No… My smartphones e.g. Galaxy Note 2 and iPhone 5 don't display a 'specific mobile version).

  2. Hi – first of all thanks for your site! It is the first site I check every day.

I have an iMac and an older iPhone and I see the same site (i.e. your regular page) on both devices.

Keep up the great work, Vince 🙂

  3. I check the site on both computer and mobile, but through RSS readers. On the computer, it's Google Reader (reader.google.com) and on mobile I use Feedly. The site works well in RSS, with all pictures and content of each post showing up. Please don't change that.

  4. I check the site on both computer and mobile, but I don't visit the site, I use RSS readers. On the computer, it's Google Reader (reader.google.com) and on mobile I use Feedly. The site works very well in RSS, with all pictures and content of each post showing up. Please don't change that.

  5. 1. I use Google Reader to pull in your RSS feed. When I want to look at a post in more detail I'm generally on Chrome on a PC or a Mac.

    2. Yes…

    3. No.

  6. I check the site via my mobile and desktop. From what I can recall, the site used to be mobile friendly, but one day it just showed up as a regular site. As the other readers, the RSS works very well. Thanks for the great content and set up.

  7. -i check the site on my laptop and my smartphone
    -yes
-the site looks the same on my phone (more or less) as it does on my laptop. no mobile version

*also, i tend to read articles in my RSS feed more often than not

  8. I have the RSS feed set up in Thunderbird on my PC, it shows me which posts I have read and which are new. I like being able to read the whole post with the pictures right there, as I would an e-mail.
Just a note not a blame, but it does not show me the comments section there, so I have to re-open the post in the browser to read those…

  9. Reading on laptop and tablet; rarely on smart phone; No mobile version coming up anyway. And may I also suggest proofreading before you post.

  10. I check the site on a PC and a phone. It looks the same on both.

While we're on the topic, your site loads slower than most on my phone. Not sure if it's the images, ads, or scripts. It's not a problem on the PC, so it's more CPU than bandwidth.

  11. 1) Split evenly between PC, Android tablet and Android phone
    2) Pretty much same display on all 3
    3) No mobile site on my phone (don't want it on my tablet), I vaguely recall there used to be a mobile site but one day I just started getting the normal site.

  12. I read from my PC and on rare occasions on my Windows Phone. I'm seeking a Windows 8/RT tablet now and your site is the one I logo on to to test them. It renders the same desktop site everywhere.

My suggestion as always is to do away with anonymous commenters for good. Make these lazy bums come up with names to spew their drivel from. They should stand by their opinions by name, instead of subjecting us to the goofy "Anonymous on Anonymous crime."

    Also, get simpler Captchas.

  13. 01) I check the site with my PC most of the times. Every now and then, I use my smartphone.

    02) The site looks quite different on my Galaxy S III. Only short previews of the article appear. I prefer what I see on my PC-monitor…

    03) I couldn't find out, which specific mobie version is used for the mobile version.

P.S.: Thank you for being so productive this month, Vince. 🙂

  14. 1. computer, tablet, and phone
    2. site looks the same regardless of rss reader (google reader or feeddler) — I rarely read site on its own
    3. don't see mobile version

  15. Site is stable across android, iMac, and iPad.

My only suggestion would be to consider getting somebody to proofread your copy. Some of the typos can be…humorous, but I do not think that is intended.

  16. Hi vince ,

I used PC in house ,no smart yet ,but maybe later .

Thank you for whart you are and what you do for us !

  17. I check your blog on my PCm never on a smart phone. The only suggestion I have is that you should proof read what you write before you post it.

  18. -Are you checking the site on a computer or a mobile device. Phone or tablet.

I check on all three. Computers, Android phone, & iPad.

-Are you seeing the same site on the computer and the phone.

Your site appears the same on all 3 for me.

-My phone doesn't seem to show me a specific mobile version of the site. Does yours?

    Nope.

I've lost track of how many years I've been visiting your site. Every so often I even look at the archives for a good laugh at what was changed or didn't come to be. You do a great job of updating!

  19. Hi Vince
I have been visiting your site for many years and always enjoyed it. I check it on an ipad, iphone 5 and in Safari. It always looks the same and its fine, but would very much like to see a wider format instead of this narrow blogger style to have larger photos in Safari on the mac. On the iphone 5, it does look good and is mobile optimized with a photo on the left and text on the right. It looks good and provides the obvious arrow on the right to read more which opens the article nicely. Its also nice on the iPhone mobile version as the ads don't show.

  20. Vince,

Sign up for a Google Analytics Account. It will answer your questions, and provide you far more. Better, yet, IT IS FREE.

  21. Excellent on OS X 10.8 Safari 6, iPhone 4S iOS6, and iPad 2 iOS6. And this is an Anonymous post; please do not abandon us again as the uninformed "contributor" asked. I think you're great and your contribution A+!

  22. What do you anonymous commenters have to hide and how is your contribution so much more special than those of people who use names? Fear of getting banned/blocked?

  23. I love reading the site, but it wouldn't hurt to have a proofreading editor make some corrections here and there.

  24. I can't say this too much: you REALLY would have a much bigger audience if you could just get the spelling and grammer right. I for one, don't take comments too seriously when the blogger cant even spell–it underminds his credibility completely. I just don't value the opinions of the illiterate like I do those who make intelligent statements with correct grammer and spelling. And folks who don't care–you're not going to lose them because you're using a spell-checker. I'll excuse folks in a hurry making comments with typos–but the guy WRITTING the BLOG??? Get real. I like the blog, but you probably need more followers to make it profitable.

  25. Hi Vince,

I am visiting your site for many years now, every day.

    – I usually use my PC to view your site and there is no mobile specific version for mobile devices.

    Suggestions:
    – Use a different template, wider format and bigger images. That would make your site more professional (gain more traffic).
    – Use Google Analytics to view all the traffic and answer your questions.
    – If you want more traffic, you have to post more content also. Some periods, there are many days with no updates and for those visiting the site every day (those who don't use RSS readers) it's a little disturbing. Don't take it personally this is how many people think, I know you are doing this in your free time.

Thanks for your great work all these years!
