Chevrolet Trax

Last Updated:

The Trax is Chevrolet’s version of the new Buick Encore crossover.
Europe is getting the Encore as the Opel Moka.
But we are not getting the Trax. From these pictures it looks like Canada is getting it though.

Sure, they do look very similar. But they do sell us the Chevrolet Equinox and the GMC Terrain. And these 2 are really similar. Especially inside.

Just as a reminder, here are a couple of pictures of the Encore.
It will start at at $25 000 when it goes on sale later this year.
It includes the 1.4 Liter Turbo with 138hp and a 6 speed auto.
It will top at around $31 000 completely loaded. AWD is still a $1500 choice.

This is NOT cheap for such a small car. It will be competing with larger crossovers like the all new Escape, CRV etc…

Maybe a cheaper Chevrolet version would have been a better choice after all….

  1. The TRAX looks exactly like a smaller GMC Terrain, so it'll likely find its way to GMC dealers sooner than later.

As for your assessment that, "these 2 are really similar. Especially inside", they really share very little with the exception of general layout – the overall designs are completely different.

  2. Actually chooch, they have zero resemblance. There is not one styling theme that is similar, not even the window lines.

  3. Its size and pricing put it squarely against another mpv: Ford Cmax. It better lead in utility or handling b/c that is a lot of coin for a small non premium car

  4. We will get both Encore and Trax in Canada! And we have the Chevrolet Orlando! Americans don't wan't good fuel efficient products!

Ummm… Buicks aren't SUPPOSED to be "cheap!" GM has other vehicles to fit that need.

    It's called marketing.

  6. This looks really small. Who wants a small SUV? I've seen the new Escape and CRV in parking lots and they're not that big. So if this is much smaller, then what's the point? Slightly better gas mileage at a slightly lower price? I predict a lot of unhappy potential buyers who won't be able to fit their gear, and lots of inventory on dealer lots.

  7. This is the dorkiest looking bozo the clown suv I have ever seen. It's not going to impress the neighbors when you come rolling home in this.

Nothing that GM makes is "good". Of course, the Corvette and possibly even the Camaro are the exceptions there. The rest of their vehicles don't measure up as indicated by their poor placement in comparison tests.

…. and there is NOTHING about this vehicle that makes it a true Buick. It is slightly larger than the Sonic. This is going to be a colossal sales flop, ask any Buick dealer.

This is significantly smaller than the CR-V, over 10 inches shorter in length.

It does NOT even get better gas mileage than the best in the next class up. There really is no point for this CUV to exist as it does nothing well.

    – It doesn't look nice
    – It is too small
    – Its small size doesn't justify great gas mileage
    – It will be underpowered
    – It is FAR too much money

There is no point to this vehicle, and it will be sales flop.
