2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid

Last Updated:

The popular Hybrid option is, of course, back with the new design.
The new 2012 Camry Hybrid showed very impressive numbers when it came out a few months ago.
But the new Fusion looks like a winner with 47MPG city and 45MPG highway. Which is quite amazing.
But not everything is in the numbers and we’ll have to see if the new Fusion Hybrid is as smooth running as the 2012 Camry Hybrid.

Still. A very impressive showing from Ford.

  1. The current Fusion hybrid supposedly is pretty smooth so most likely it should still be ok but not sure how they managed the improvements.

I drove Fusion recently as a rental and was amazed how plasticky the interior was esp. the instrument cluster. Hopefully that is improved.

  2. The current Fusion hybrid SPANKS the Camry hybrid in terms of driveability. Why would you expect less of the next gen Fusion Hybrid? Get real.

  3. As rentals, I prefer the current Fusion a lot more than the newly released Camry. This upcoming Fusion appears to be in a completely different league.

  4. I like the fact that mainstream cars are getting more aggressive looking. There's no reason to have to spend $70k on a car to have it look like it was purposefully designed. And there's no reason that anyone should have to be sentenced to a life in an Accord, Camry or Sonata when cars like this Fusion, the upcoming Malibu, the CC or the new Optima look like this. Fingers crossed that it drives as good as it looks.

  5. Aston Martin, without the big payment.

I love it! Forget Camry, that thing doesn't know what to make of it.

  6. The Ford Fusion, code named CD338 for the first generation (2006-12), is a mid-size car produced by the Ford Motor Company since the 2006 model year. The 2010 model was awarded the Motor Trend Car of the Year[2] and its hybrid version won the 2010 North American Car of the Year Award.[3] The Fusion is manufactured at Ford's Hermosillo Stamping & Assembly plant in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico, where the similar and now discontinued Mercury Milan and the Lincoln MKZ are also built.[4] All three cars utilize the CD3 platform, which is, in fact, Mazda's current GG chassis as used for the Mazda6 (M/Y 2003–2008).[5] Ford has used every evolution of the Mazda G platform since 1983.

I just compared the roof line of the Mazda 6 and it's strikingly similar to this new Fusion. I think there is agreement the front is Aston Martin "inspired". Then Current Mazda 6 + Aston Martin Fascia= Fusion of the Future

  7. This will be worth the $5K premium over Camry and $8K over Prius. Ford will not have to discount these at all to move them. A good financial play.
