2012 Chevrolet Cruze hatchback

Last Updated:

Still not sure if this is the real thing or not, although it does look very realistic.
The thing is, this car has a US license plate.
And GM has already said the hatchback version will not be sold in the US.

Unless they have changed their mind already.

The new Cruze is a very nice car, and this hatchback would be a welcome addition to the US lineup.
Competing better with the 2012 Focus line.

Let’s hope this is for real…

  1. this cannot compete against the new elantra, focus, or anything from the back. Chevy take some of that design language from the front and make a sharp angular back!

  2. As much as they should brign this to the US, it doesn't stand a change between the Focus, 3, Elantra/Accent in that form. Looks like a part of it is missing. Maybe I got spoiled by seeing the Astra all over the place :/

  3. sporty but not too big, i need more as in a Van. I am sooooo excited, I just drove the new Quest by Nissan, I had already driven others. It is a superb piece of work. Basically best described as a Murano Van. If my dealer is nice to me tomorrow on the price, I will get one.

  4. Personally I like it better than the over the top Focus! It's a handsome car and hope they offer it here!

  5. I love the idea. But the execution is not there. The back is pretty generic, like a poor man's Subaru Impreza. It contradicts the strong face and shoulder lines.

  6. Chevy can't seem to design a rear end that isn't completely dopy looking. The sedan is the same way. Great looking car, except for the ass. Good idea. Bad design… at least from the rear.

  7. I like the rear half a LOT!
at Least as much as Focus's.

GM's problem is not chnaging their mind too much – it's not knowing WHEN to change it!
BRING THE 5-door TO THE U.S.!!

  8. Its ugly.

The hatch doesn't look like it adds that much practicality at all with that severe slope. Also, the Cruze is far overpriced for the powertrain it has and amount of equipment.

Mazda3 or Focus hatch any day of the week.

  9. Hey Doc Martin, I realize its a bit off topic, but it is a car blog…….I love the Quest too and I'm not ashamed to say I finally Love a Van. If Infiniti made a Van , this would be it!

  10. Dear Vince.

Dump the comments section. This site was far better before salesman shills and pimpled teenagers started writing nonsense.

    Just sayin'

  11. love the freeflow of car ideas waving back and forth on this site…it's a real car blog this Vince's spot!

    Come on, Vince. Really?

Obviously the same person and it is all from the same "Nissan is a great piece of kit" guy who "owns" a flower delivery business and has 10 Sentras to deliver flowers in.

You letting things in like this ruins your commenting section.

  13. I like this design.

It doesn't look like a "crossover" (5-door) vehicle…. or what us "old people" used to call "a station wagon".

I hope that they bring this to the USA… I don't care if they call it a Chevy, or make this into a Buick.

    exactly!
I'm soooo tired of hatches looking like shrunken wagons.
Would love see one even more fastback in styling.
