All new 2011 Nissan Sunny

Last Updated:

Not really sure what the new Sunny is. With its 1.5 Liter engine, it could very well end up being the next Versa sedan in the US.
But its interior is mainly from the new March/Micra. Which is smaller than the Versa/Tilda.
So is it a Micra sedan?

One thing is certain, it is ugly enough to be the next Versa.

Here is the new Micra/March hatchback interior.
Pretty much the same as this new Sunny.

  1. Not very pretty… a little too close to the Toyota melted look. The Japanese have lost their way, now even with small cars. The Mazda 3 is probably the best design ghoulish grin aside. Sad…..

  2. I don't get the latest japanese designs. It seems everything from Honda to Toyota to Nissan is just… awful. Look at Nissan. The only positive thing about it are the big windows, otherwise… They sure will be losing ground to the koreans.

  3. They can't possibly be of the opinion that this is a good looking car…can they? They don't honestly think that between hideous QC and agressive competitors (Feista, Fit, Mazda 2, etc) that this holds a candle do they?

I think it's time for Carlos to search for a successor….because the lastest stuff from Nissan has made me ill.

  4. I think that this underscores the reality that the Japanese aren't innovators. Historically, they've taken stuff that they (or others) have done and repackaged it… sometimes making it better, but often just making bland mainstream appliances. Once they find themselves in a place where they are expected to lead, they come out with trash like the last decades worth of self accelerating Camrys, the horrendously ugly (and too nonexistent to matter) LFA, or this. I'm sure they'll find a way to botch the next GT-R too. As much as I would like to, I can't blame this Nissan on the French family this time. Renault does do weird design, but it's generally haute couture. This is just disposable trash with a Japanese-ey aftertaste.

That said, why are the wheels so stupidly small. And why is the C pillar straight off a Dodge economy car? Or the passenger airbag out of a 1995 Golf. And then there's everything else about it that inexplicably sucks.

This is a massive fail. A "10 worst" preview for the new decade.

And that is exactly what the Koreans and Chinese are doing now.

  6. Nissan hires just plain silly people in their design departments. Who signs-off on these designs? Some know-nothing MBA?

  7. The interior is dumb– but so is everything else in this size (except for Chevy). I actually like the exterior–makes it look bigger than it is.
