2012 Hyundai Accent Hatchback

Last Updated:

The next hatch version of the new Accent will be a 5 door.
Currently only a 3 door is available.

I kind of like the current car. A simple, practical and decent looking hatchback that starts at around $10 000.
I think this next one looks a bit more.. Formal.
Maybe it’s the pictures.

Anyway, it’s always good to see affordable hatchbacks in the US.

  1. I think Hyundai is serious about competing on Price, and I bet this will stay cheaper then the Fiesta and Aveo(or whatever its new name is). I want to say the fiesta beats both on everything else, but I'll hold out for a review of the new Aveo, and hopefully GM will bring one to the next autoshow I visit.

  2. Looks like a Fiesta knockoff with a much lower price. Should sell well when gas hits 4 in a couple months.

  3. I like it a lot! Not a bad entry for Hyundai.

I still don't know if I'd take it over a Fit or a Mazda2 though.

  4. Looks good, except that Hyundai is not daring enough to get rid of the mandatory/generic/boring "smiling mouth" grille.

Come on Hyundai! That aggressive hexagonal air intake on the front of the 2011 Sonata is something that could be adapted to other models.

  5. All of these little hatchbacks look alike to me.
That's not a complaint because they all look good.
But they're as different from one another as loaves supermarket bread.

  6. I guess the Veloster (or whatever they end up calling it) is supposed to replace both the Accent 3-door and the Tiburon in Hyundai's lineup, so this is the new value leader. Looks good to me, but I hope the Kia version isn't a badge-engineered copy.

  7. Does Hyundai create or steal designs?

I was talking to a hyundai employee and he said on your first day you get a tape measure, second day you get a ratchet set, third day you get a email account so you can send to South Korea the dimensions of the vehicles you broke down.

Hyundai caught on real quick. How does that happen?

  8. I like how they adapted the Elantra Touring taillights to this.. keeps some styling continuity between generations. Hopeful the next Elantra Touring will be a stunner!

Maybe they will put a modern engine in this unlike that pathetic Ford Fiesta.

The Fiesta does have a modern engine.

Stop hating just to hate, guy.

    A real thinking-man comment…LOL!

These look really good for what they are!

  11. It has something of the Fiesta design, but it also is very similar looking to the Hyundai i30 5-door (not wagon) that is sold in Europe…
