2011 Audi A6?

Last Updated:

This looks pretty real to me.
And if it’s not, I bet it does look close to the real thing.

The new A6 will basically be a sedan version of the recently released A7. And cheaper.
Nothing amazing here, as all Audis look pretty much the same.

But if you do compare it with the current Mercedes E Class, this next A6 looks gorgeous. And holds its own against the new 5 series.

  1. It is good looking, but Audi's are starting to get like VW's, they all look the same but are different sizes. I like the A7 since it looks the least cookie cutter.

  2. Vince, it's really frustrating how you'll jizz over a nasty looking Hyundai, but you say "nothing amazing here" about this. This is probably one of the best looking sedans that have graced these pages next to the Rapide.

I agree and don't agree. I agree about VW's being boring; however, I don't think Audi is boring I just think its really becuase Audi's signature grille has aged. But the grille didn't age on its own, just look at the Tundra and the Lancer. They and other Audi grilles on other cars are to blame for a new Audi design that no longer earth shattering.

  4. The first photo's roofline looks sloped in a bad way.

The second picture is very promising. I think it will be a very competitive.

  5. I hope this is real.. and if it is, it should spell curtains for the short-wheelbase A8. Compared to the A8, this looks a LOT less top-heavy with a much narrower greenhouse.

  6. The new 5-Series looks way better, sleeker, and sportier than this new Audi A6 sedan. Audi sedans all look like like bloated oversized Passats.

  7. Looks O:K–but nothing special. But in a world of over-regulation and uninspired generics; it's good enough. Cars as impressive as the old Cougars, AMX, Superbirds, Riverias, Imperials, Shelbys and 4-door thunderbirds just aren't possible with government control of gas mileage, bumper strength, pedestrian impact, co2 emissions, and everything else. Consumers no longer have the final say — the big 0 does! So "O:K" is as good as it gets today.

This guy's got it pretty spot on. Hyundai's all look like melted plastic these days, and this would be a fresh, crisp, clean design… But it's "nothing amazing" and every new Korean car is??? Please.

  9. It's interesting to me that Audi now appears to be more conservative than BMW and Mercedes, although it's still a handsome sedan.

And to all you nuts geting on Vince's case for defending Hyundai's, you should understand that it's a different set of standards for European cars. We expect more from them in light of their price range and heritage. Hyandai is relatively new to the game and they were in the gutter for many years. To create cars that are better designs than those coming from Toyota and Honda is a real accomplishment.

  10. hey don't be so hard on audi, they are just now 25 years later, getting out from under their burnt reputation of sudden acceleration cars. Toyota on the other hand is just at the beginning of their exact same fiasco, except toyota would have you believe it was driver error that killed them ???????????

  11. Toyoslide,

Audi pretty much recovered from their SA mess in the mid 90s with the launch of the then-new A4 sedan. It's been mostly rosy ever since.

Toyota on the other hand, has had well known safety issues, only one being sudden acceleration defects. Actually, there were multiple admitted defects that led to SA. In spite of what Toyota's PR would like us to believe, the one or two cases of bogus SA claims are just a red herring for what is a legitimate series of defects that Toyota should have dealt with years ago.

  12. this design looks boring.
i am tired to german csrs. they all look the same, except the dimensions change….

this is coming from a german that drives a 2010 camaro 2lt…

    suck this "german engineered"

  13. "Toyota on the other hand is just at the beginning of their exact same fiasco, except toyota would have you believe it was driver error that killed them ???????????"

The independent investigators are proving that it is driver error.
It sounds like Toyoslide fits into that category. Which is: blame the product instead of their own pathetic driving errors.

Well,… not exactly. The unpredictable electronics in Lexus & Toyotas are clearly the Manufacturer's fault– partly bad programming and partly too much cost-cutting on the electronics. Floor mat issues were determined to be driver error; but probably not the real cause of any of the deaths, anyway. (electronics was definitely a major concern & ergonomics is still being debaited). Some Toyotas had faulty brakes; and that was clearly a quality issue; possibly due to overly-agressive cost cutting. Hybrids in particular seem to harbour an over-abundance of electronic gremlins in Toyotas.

The Toyota issues are many many times more egregious and numerous than the 1 issue Audi had 30-40 years ago (which was only in the US, oddly enough, unlike the world-wide issues on so many Toyota products.)
