Toyota Mark X “M Supercharger”

Last Updated:

Or when Toyota designs a good looking sedan.
And doesn’t sell it in the US.
It manages to get 360hp out of the 3.5 Liter V6.

  1. A 360 hp Camry! USELESS if it only has front wheel drive. I'd like to see the interior in daylight. This car seems pretty cool. But I'd like to know more about it. If this thing has AWD then I'm sure it's an awesome performer.

  2. this car is RWD, you should be able to tell by the overhang proportion alone. in japan the mark-series has been the toyota rwd mid-size sedan selling along the fwd camry for a very long while now, it is actually priced literally within the exact same range as the camry despite having standard RWD and 200+ hp 2.5 v6 base engine with the optional 300+ hp v6 (vs the crappy pos i4 in the camry), and of course, as a result of that, this car sells WAY BETTER than the camry in japan, afterall, who wanna buy that FWD piece of junk camry crap when you can get this for literally the same amount of money? you will literally see at least 5 to 7 mark-series before running into a camry/accord, that's how popular they are. the fact that toyota in north america will deliberately hold back an attractive car like this that they know will sell really well is beyond me.

  3. The Mark X used to have the class and style of a genuine American Sport Luxury Sedan. This piece of crap is just a warmed-over Camry. What a let-down!

  4. The Mark X is actually a rwd sedan with a similar platform to the Lexus GS series.
I would rather have this in the US as a new Cressida instead of the Avalon

  5. I didn't know about the MK model from Toyota until a recent trip to Jamaica. I was really surprise to see the nice profile, a la Mercedes Benz and the good finish and nice ride. A very good vehicle.

  6. @john m
The Mark X is RWD but also is available with AWD. Toyota NEEDS to bring this car over as the next Camry!!

  7. Typical clueless posters …

This is RWD. 360HP Camry, get real.

This is a 360HP RWD sports sedan that makes BMW nervous.

The Mark in Japan has huge heritage and reputation.

  8. TOYOTA sucks!
    their cars look like ass.

vince, youre claiming this car looks good? out of your mind?

    this car is completely BLAND.

  9. i think this is a RWD car. in any case, it's a great looking Toyota sedan, a shocker indeed. forget Lexus, this should be a top of the line Toyota replacing the Avalon.

  10. Disappointing that, in almost every case, only the most plain-vanilla Asian and European models get shipped to the U.S. This is the best-looking Toyota in a long time. Would be a big seller here, no doubt.

  11. Thanks guys…RWD/AWD. This would be great here in the USA but I'm guessing Lexus would dissagree. You know….I wonder if we would have more affordable rear wheel drive cars from foreign manufacturers if they did'nt have luxury divisions to support here in the USA.

  12. Most anything looks good in black with tons of reflections in the paint. I was initially impressed with the way it looks but after googling it and seeing photos of the car in other colors, with less reflections, all I can say is meh.

And yeah, there's no way this would sell as well as the NA camry…a RWD camry? Seriously? I don't think so… Perhaps as another model under Lexus, but the ES sells well enough with FWD, and I think the GS looks better than this.

  13. YOU SAID. "Disappointing that, in almost every case, only the most plain-vanilla Asian and European models get shipped to the U.S."

    I SAY:
That's because American car fanatics expect the performance of a Charger or Challenger SXT; A Mustang GT or Saleen or Shelby, a Cadillac CTS-V, a Chrysler 300c SRT, a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT; a Vette; etc.etc. The Asians can't come close to anything like that; so they focus on bland generics (like Accord/Civic) for the naieve masses who demand a car that's simple-stupid. The masses would complain about poor gas mileage (in a 350HP Camry) and the car guys would trash it as beeing too weak & bland. In short, there's no market for such a mid-level compromise in the US.

  14. "but I'm guessing Lexus would dissagree."

that's the funny thing about all the fat dumb american business managers. they are always looking for excuses on why americans loves crap, how it "competes" with some otehr car in the same company, and how they shouldn't bring a certain great model over, then they turn around and waste million of dollar coming up with rat-sh*ts like the avalon, and/or giving facelifts to existing model that usualy end up uglifying the car's look, they do all these pointless sh*t and waste all these money so they can appear useful and claim that it's their effort that generated the sales, when all these dumb fat american desingers/bean-counters are just parasites on the systems. import the mark to replace/sell along the camry, import the crown as the avalon, fire ALL the retarded designers in north america, and they will do just fine.

    STFU you idiot.

The Challenger SXT with an underperforming, overrated 3.5 liter V6? It can barely clock a 8 second 0-60 time with an automatic.

The Jeep SRT-8 has the worst interior I have ever seen on a $30,000+ vehicle, it is a joke.

The SRT models are underperforming for the amount of HP they produce, all they do is go in a straight line fast.

Mustang GT is NOT that fast at ALL.

I'd take a Civic Si over anything that the Americans produce right now in that class.

I'd take a bland Accord over anything the Americans produce in that class, but a Fusion comes close.

The fact that you even bring up Chrysler's piss poor models shows that you are an ignorant fanboy who is trying to grip hard to the deckboard of a sinking ship. Chrysler sucks, as do all of their models.

  16. I'm the first to verbally $hit on Toyota whenever I see their typical lowest-common-denominator bland, low quality recall-prone garbage. There isn't a single Toyota, Lexus or Scion sold in this country that I would consider. I know there are a lot of middle managers wearing pleated Dockers that would disagree, but I think It all looks ten years old.

That said, I LOVE THIS! This is what Toyota needs to become.

  17. Who cares even if it looks nice it's only a Camry with restyled headlights with RWD. You see these bodyshells on american roads like every .05 of second.

  18. Toyota will probably never sell the Mark X here.
It is based on the Lexus GS. It has nothing to do with the Camry.
But somehow, over the past generations, the Mark X and Camry have always looked very similar.

  19. You can always import this model from China, that's the only country where Toyota sells Mark X officially but with different name. And China drives on the right similar to USA.
