Nissan Skyline Crossover

Last Updated:

For the Japanese market.
Where they finally are getting their version of our Infiniti EX.
But over there, they just market it as a Crossover version of the Skyline sedan (Our G37 sedan) .

The version they get is close to the European one, with the larger 3.7 Liter engine and the 7 speed auto.

The one sold here, which is still a 2008 model by the way, has the “old” 3.5 and only 5 speed.

The 7 speed should provide a much needed boost in fuel economy.

  1. Completely useless vehicle. The public has decided.

Since its release I have seen maybe three in Fairfax and Loudon county. Those are the top two wealthiest counties in the US.

  2. well i guess the R35 Skyline ruined the Skyline name enough that destroying it even further doesn’t really matter

  3. I figured they would. This always seemed like a G35 Hatchback to me anyway. I don’t understand the purpose of this. I bet they will eventually make one smaller than this and charge MORE for it.

  4. there is no R35 Skyline. its called a V35. the Skyline GT-R and the regular Skyline were still the same. GT-R was just a more expensive trim. so no, the skyline name is not ruined.

I agree with this poster. I haven’t seen more than two or three myself. I looked at one at a dealership because I was curious when it came out. WAYYY too small.

There is no point in getting this over, let’s say, an RDX or a GLK. Don’t forget that this particular version of the VQ35 has a tendency oil consumption problem that develops early in its life. It is documented on the NICO forums.

  6. I love nissan/infiniti they build without a doubt the absolute best looking and best quality cars on this planet.

  7. I think Infiniti has made a mistake in this case. Second row is almost useless, since they have taken the G and made it a hatchback. I love the G ( I have the G35 SPORT), but this one is a little odd for what it is supposed to be. What is it supposed to be anyway?

  8. I think this is an absolutely gorgeous vehicle. But like most Nissans/Infiniti’s, the smaller versions have little or no increase in fuel economy over their larger product offerings, so no one buys them. A shame, really.

  9. Yeah, this is a sales flop in the US. Way to go, Nissan.

I don’t know about elsewhere, but I can’t grasp the concept of this vehicle.

No interior space, diminished capabilities because of limited ground clearance, bloated price because it is an Infiniti, the list could go on.

There are many other crossovers, take your pick but this isn’t the best of the bunch by any means.
