Next Toyota RAV4

The new RAV4 is due in a bout a year.
And it is supposed to look a bit less SUV like.
So It will pretty much be the AWD small wagon it is supposed to be in the 1st place. And look even more like one.

It will also look a bit more upscale to better compete with the number one selling SUV in the US: the Honda CRV.

If this new illustration is to be trusted, the new design won't be breaking any grounds.

The words "upscale" and "CRV" don't belong in the same sentence. The current CRV is one of the most clunky, third-world looking trucklets available in the US today. I had no idea that it was the #1 selling SUV. That's quite a surprise.

Looks like a Scion xD with "boomerang" lights. Not that that's a bad thing.

I this has something to do with ties to SUBARU...?
I guarantee it will come with CVT (like new Subaru)

I hope toyota will also offer HYBRID...

Vince, This looks way too small to be the next RAV4! Just look at the rear gargo area and compare it to the current model. If memory serves, I believe Toyota is introducing a smaller 4 wheel drive platform in North America to compete with the likes of the Suzuki SX4. The next RAV4 will be closer to a crossover than ever with a tall hatchback design.

are they stealing headlights from nissan now?

This cant be the next RAV4, the rear overhang is too short. It is more likely is the new Toyota Rush the smaller AWD sibling.

the illustration looks like the "shorter" version...i guess the US will get a longer one with a third row as standard/option..

Supposed to be?

From this initial sketch it looks derivative of a Suzuki SX4. Not really my forte.

You are right. The back of the car in the picture looks like the first generation Honda CR-V and the front gives a hint that they will use the design of the headlights found in the Nissan Z.

And people that post often in this forum complaint too much of Chinese companies copying everything!

BTW, Car companies have copied each other since the same beginning of the modern car industry!

woah, wtf is this, a joke I hope. I own a Rav (4 years old) and I am lookin at the Nissan Rogue and Honda crv this time around also. Rogue is #1 so far. This better not be the new Rav or my decision may be made.

BIG MISTAKE

I agree, way too small to be a RAV 4. My bet is the next Daihatsu Terios.

Hey everybody. I've learned not to question the illustrations that Vince shows on this website. Especially the ones that have this sort of grainy "look." I remember when Vince showed an illustration of the current CR-V some 2-3 years before it debuted. I think every single person (including me) said that the picture was bogus. Well, guess what happened? Yup...

The one thing I will say is that it's ugly. And it looks to be quite a bit smaller than the current RAV4.

This is not the upcoming RAV4

I just came back from a trip to Chicago and I had a RAV4 with the V6. Aside from the V6 everything else was awful. Fit and finish was SHOCKINGLY poor for a Toyota, and the plastics and materials were chintzy to say the least.

To the guy commenting on saying the Rogue is best, I also rented one and it was just as bad as the RAV4 as far as fit and finish and materials go. The CVT makes it worse.

Don't agree with this comment at all. If you didn't know it was the best selling SUV in America then you obviously don't know anything about the industry and your comments can't be taken seriously.

That is like saying you didn't know that Ford doesn't need assistance or Chrysler isn't in trouble.

Looks like a version of the Toyota Urban Cruiser to me.

Scion XD rebadged with a front end and rear end. take more market share of consumer needed the utility space and feeling like a micro SUV, a bit smaller than RAV4, they are everywhere in the world where gas is like $2-$3/L, US is lucky they are not paying for this kind of gas price, otherwise, this will be a nice choice for those who need such a vehicle. its nothing but a jacked up station wagon.

This is the new Rush/Terios

A while back Toyota was planing on producing a small Scion 4 wheel drive to add to their lineup. Maybe this will be the direction of the vehicle pictured here.

CR-Vs are a favorite with the broads. When they like/love something, they're all over it (which is why there are more women's shoes at Ross and Nordstrom Rack)
