  1. I’m kinda not suprised but on the other hand I am, I mean was’nt all the money they received from us supposed to help keep them from going into bankruptcy? But yeah, it’s smart of them, in a way to file for it since they then MAY NOT have to pay the bail out loans back. Or at least they’d have to give back pennies on the dollar. I expect GM will be next? Also, I just read on autoblog that GM MAY be getting rid of Pontiac soon.

So is Fiat not going to join up with Chrysler now?

  2. It seems that it will be a win, win situation for both Fiat and Chrysler. Italy’s Fiat will become the new head of Chrysler, while the brass over at Chrysler will get all that money from the government to do what they want to with. Isn’t America wonderful? Sell out your own American company through bankruptcy and let the foreigners take over and let them have all the problems you were to lazy and stupid to resolve!

  3. I’m not wasting any more time reading any more crap about Chrysler or GM. Especially from a rag like the NYT. Chrysler has suffered from twenty five years of bad management… it didn’t start with the current economic downturn or high gas prices last summer. The nail in the coffin were those dolts at Diamler who caused Chrysler to be nothing more than the living dead for the past five years. Good riddance to a company that has sucked the blood from taxpayers for way too long.

  4. The only brand worth saving out of The Chrysler Corp. is Jeep. Someone should pick up Jeep and turn them back into the once great offroad adventure machines they were.

I absolutely hate it when uneducated, uninformed people blame Daimler for Chryslers problems.

After the merger Chrysler put out some of their best vehicles EVER. The technology and platform sharing brought us the 300/Charger/Challenger which was (somewhat of) a saving grace for the brand. The upcoming Grand Cherokee is based off of the Mercedes ML.

Where would Chrysler be without that? Probably bankrupt already.

Just let them die. Assist all of the workers and let the company die.

    Absolutely disagree.

Please see my post when Vince put up pictures of the upcoming GC. I was the guy who had the nightmare of a Jeep and a long story to go with it.

  7. “Good riddance to a company that has sucked the blood from taxpayers for way too long.” –Actually one of, if not the absolute best, investments the US Government has EVER made IN IT’S ENTIRE HISTORY was the loan to Chrysler under Lee Iacocca. Taxpayers were paid back AHEAD of schedule AND MADE A HUGE PROFIT on the deal. If only we could repeat that transaction about 1000 times — we could drop income taxes way down to 20% and STILL finance the most expensive health care system the world has ever dreamed up! I say lets get ’em to borrow as much as they are willing to commit to!

  8. I have a question for anyone out there…..and I apologize if this was brought up already…….but if Fiat takes over Chrysler AND Opel/Vauxhall, then I take it Buick wont get the Insignia? If the mergers go through, could we see a Chrysler Insignia in the future?
