Again, the all new Ford Ka is actually being considered for the US market.
This car would be pretty much without competition over here. it is smaller than the already small Fiesta that would compete with the Toyota Yaris.
I can only think of the Smart. But this has 4 seats.
I am not sure how Ford plans on dealing with the fact that the Ka would also have to be cheaper than the inexpensive Fiesta in the US.
So US production isn’t likely…

It’s actually only 4 inches smaller than the Yaris 3 door. It would compete with that vehicle, the Accent 3 door, the Mini Cooper, the Smart (however it’s 36 inches longer than the Smart), the Suzuki SX4 and Scion xD.
cute may fit in back of navigator, speaking of which, why do all the asshole actors and brain dead athletes drives Escalades and that shit? There are Land Rovers and Infiniti QX56’s out there and they are better quality and better looking..
Makes a lot of sense for those of us that basically are just commuters. I do wish that Ford and others (yeah! I mean you, Honda Fit!) would offer those great glass roofs as options with their small cars.
if ford is still “thinking” about bring this very nice looking small car they are in big trouble. They should be looking at where to build it and how fast they can get it too the lots.

Ford has had the solution to inexpensive production for years.. right across the border, where they’ve been building the C1 Focus, Fiesta and even the Ka for the Mexican and South American markets! Why they never brought them to the US before is the big question.
Why not build them here in the US. We have the most skilled labor force in the world and with the weak dollar, they could be built here and exported to other countries cheaper than building them in Europe.
Even with the new Fiesta and a crap load of new Euro cars making it (soon!) to the US people are still dwelling on the past? Stop blaming Ford people, they are doing all the right moves now and that is what counts. As for the Ka, it is a great car and a no-brainer for Europe but you all know that many would think twice to buy such a small car in the US. So its not stupid for Ford to take some time to think it over, they have already spent billions retooling their factories, in order to manufacture the Ka in NA they will need to do something similar. Sure, they can built them in Mexico, there are solutions, but everything costs money and if they think that the Fiesta is as small as it gets when it comes to buyers why would they spent more making the Ka? If it becomes a viable business solution of course the will, they have already green lighted every single Ford Europe product for the US excluding the larger MPV/Vans (S-Max and Galaxy). Be patient and be grateful

You’ve got a point there. Read the fine print of that bailout plan (even my candidate supported it…aaaah!). The government could theoretically buy Ford for $1.

Yeah, because having money means you shouldn’t support the country you made it in and buy American. You should also feel that otherwise ugly front ends automatically look good because the brand is Japanese.

Ummm the QX56 is a Armada. Really, it is basically an Armada with a different dash and the fit and finish in the QX56 is awful, I don’t know what you are talking about.

Moron, my point is that a car’s name is a major factor contributing to a car’s image and Ford seems to fail miserably in almost every segment.

To the one who thinks Ford is stupid for still thinking about bringing over the Ka to the US: all you need to do is read most of the comments right here, from people bitching about size, shape, quality and even the freakin name! THAT is why most US makers think 2 and 3 times before taking each step. I mean how can anyone seriously think that the name is the reason for the car failing? Hello? The Mk1 Ka has been in production since 1996!! And it was a GREAT seller. Quality? PPPPPLZ! This is a tiny, budget car and yet the quality of it will probably rival much larger US cars.
So again, Europe is Europe and the US is a different story
Oh an yeah, the company “owns” customers these cars, right..that’s why US customers where size snobs which did not even want to think about downsizing to a car the size of a Focus, not to mention a Ka, a couple of years ago.
Open up your eyes! It is only recently that buyers are actually wanting such small cars
