Chinese MG

Last Updated:

Just as expected, the Chinese now introduced the MG version of the former Rover , the”Roewe”.

Similar to the Roewe and using the 2.5 Liter V6.
I guess they could keep the Rover name but somehow didn’t have a problem owning the MG name.

  1. the end of the world is near.
    how do i know???
when comunist china starts invading the us with their crappy cars

  2. They can’t use the name “Rover” because it (the name) was purchased by Ford. This was done on Fords part to protect the brand name (see Land Rover) from the possible issues with a chinese built car, not to mention the confusion.

Frankly, MG is a more valuable asset as the name hasn’t been dragged through the dirt the way Rover has.

  3. Just wanted to say that MG has nothing to do with Roewe (ex Rover) anymore. Both belong to Chinese companies of course, both hold the rights to produce what used to be the Rover 75 but that’s all.
I’m glad that they kept the wonderful dash, unlike Roewe that made a new, cheap one.
