And looking good.

I guess we had seen almost everything before, so no huge news.
but still. A nice looking upscale compact. And it’s coming over here.

  1. All I can say is that I WANT ONE (pun intended).
I just fear that it will be too expensive and sky away customers or even take away 3 series customers.
Sorry speed freaks, but BMW should but a 4 cylinder
under the hood instead to keep with fuel economy and price.
If I cant afford one, I will stick with the new Mini cooper s….

  2. The Volvo C30 will probably be the closet competitor
until Audi launches the A1, but even a base C30 with nothing in it starts at $24.000. A far cry from a bargain, but all 3 cars should really start at $ 21.000
to get my interest. Call me cheap or call me old fashion, but the competition is getting a lot more fierce these days.

  3. I Still want one, but the price is going to be important. Let’s see what comes standard on them. If these all arrive loaded with $5000-8000 worth of options, that may kill the deal for many (including me). There’s no way these are going to start at $24,000. More like $27,000 if we’re lucky.

  4. I’m sure it will be just a blast to drive and fast with the 3.5 but I’m afraid its ugly. Especially the back 3/4 view. I have to see it in person.

  5. If people will pay $2 for a bottle of water and $3 for a cup of joe at Starbucks, they’ll eat this up with a spoon.

  6. To steal a line from Top Gear: it looks like a saggy couch. I think it’d be quite nice looking if it weren’t for that saggy bottom ridge.

  7. It has an older Hyundai Accent rear end. Nice move BMW, copy one of the least expensive Korean compacts.

  8. While this will be a hit in countries where people understand the need for a premium compact, Americans won’t care for this cup of tea.

Let’s cover recent mistakes similar to this vehicle here in America. 318ti, MB C Coupe, A3, and now this. You would think that BMW had learned its lesson from the 90’s but I guess that isn’t the case.

I am sure this will be a great vehicle with all the proper BMW driving dynamics, but Americans can’t understand paying 35K for a small vehicle when they can buy something much larger for less. BMW fanatics and true drivers will appreciate this machine.
