Solara alive after 2009???

Last Updated:

” Toyota is considering adding as much as three to six months to development lead time, which is usually two to three years to improve quality, affecting a relatively wide range of projects.

The next Sienna minivan, Solara sports coupe and Avalon sedan are among models that could be affected”

A quote from the Wall Street Journal.

I thought the Solara was not going to be redesigned???
I guess the rumors were wrong…

  1. This is the only place I heard about the Solara being discontinued? I never thought it would be. I always just figured it was just auto industry gossip…

  2. I had heard a couple of months ago that they were planning to replace the Solara with another model, still based on the Camry.
I always though it would actually be a hardtop convertible coupe called something else than Solara.
So maybe they just decided to keep the sme name…

  3. I believe that Solara is dropped to make room for Toyota’s 350z fighter. I guess it doesn’t make sense for Toyota to keep two GT coupes at the same time.

  4. I think it’s some misinterpretation … that’s all.

I’m pretty sure the next Solara will be sportier, and have that rumoured hardtop.

The Celica is still selling in Canada, so I doubt that they’re going to drop the Solara in the US.

  6. I live in Lexington, KY…15 miles south of the Toyota plant where they build the Camry, Avalon and Solara. I just talked to a guy who works at the plant on Saturday, 2008 will be the final year for the Solara.
