Nissan Geniss

Last Updated:

Coming up soon.
Sharing a platform with Renault, probably the one used for the Scenic.

It looks about the size of he new Honda Stream.
Could this end up in the US as well?

  1. “Geniss”? Nissan wants free promotion from 700 club? Other than the name, I am glad to see tall wagons finally grow on this side of Atlantic.

  2. I hope so. This is exactly the type of fuel efficent people hauler we need in north america. I drive a Vibe, and I see europe has a version a little longer with three rows of seats. It’s a great size car for everyday driving and nice for travel. Americans will have to discover fuel efficient wagons, or they will just be parking their suv’s and riding the bus.

  3. It’s fairly bland from the side (not in a bad way), but the front end is quite attractive. I like Pontiac Vibe for it’s size, good economy, and value. Let’s hope Nissan gives us a version of that, too. Right now, if you want a Nissan wagon/crossover, you’re stuck with a Mirano gas hog.

  4. Umm, tall wagons, as one poster called them to me, Old School= Station Wagons= Minivan= car to haul kids.
Don’t we have enough of these as-is?’
Why not create a Unique style like the PT Cruiser, which is still selling well past 100,000 units per year, or even the HHR, or Caliber, or 5 door car that Look like cars, such as the Suzuki Reno or the(outgoing) Hyundai Elantra G?
Is it that difficult to build a unique(not 1000 clones with different company badges on ’em) 5 door, that does not scream “1970’s, update, Family ride”, akin to minivans today?

  5. The mUrano gets 20/24 with AWD. That’s very good for a mid-size SUV. It’s not the Prius, but far from a gas hog.

  6. This must be the Murano Jr. I likes, even though it has that stupid-ass bucktooth in the grill.

But what’s with the name? I’m guessing their English design team was piss-drunk and screwed up the spelling of their most immediate influence, “Guiness”. Or, maybe it’s the way Japenese spell “genius” when they’ve had too much sake. Either way, you Nissan employees need to lay off the booze.

Yet you celebrate the PT Cruiser, which is nothing more than a ’60s Woody retread? Copying designs that are 40 years old rather than 30 is not being unique. Besides, this vehicle doesn’t strike me as trying to copy either era, and Nissan seems to being doing just fine at infusing originality into designs lately, so I expect they’ll do the same here.

  7. If Nissan can price it under $20k, (like Mazda 5), and with 30 MPG, then I think it will be a winner.

Personally I think Mazda 5 has a better styling, but it’s just too bad that the engine sucks big time :o(

I appreciate your need to defend wasteful gas usage, but compared to a Vibe, it’s a gas hog.

  9. what the deal with all these pretend-to-be-but-don’t-call-me-minivans! real minivans have practical sliding doors and easy access to the third row. have you ever try to get people in and out of these vehicles in tight parking spaces? if you need a third row, get a minivan or a mazda5. period.
