Lexus V12 Hybrid?

Last Updated:

Maybe…
Lexus is planning a super Luxury sedan above the current LS.
And they might be using a V12 Hybrid engine with well over 500hp.

They already have a V12 for the “Japan only” Century luxury car, so why not…

  1. Is Toyota going to brag how their V12 hybrid gets 14 mpg compared to every other V12s 12? Or the fuel economy of a V12 with the power of a V16? Toyota slapping a hybrid badge onto everything they build is becoming a joke.

  2. I see they are going back to their root, which is copying Mercedes.
This thing looks every bit like a Maybach. Now their front grill is starting to like Volkswagen. What a shame, couldn’t Lexus be more original?

  3. What you “see” is just an illustration.
I wouldn’t even comment about the front grille before I see the actual car…

Really? Well, for Toyotas it seems so. But Lexus insiders are saying that “h” will be Lexus’s performance line. RX400h, GS450h, LS600h, etc. all offer more performance than their nonhybrid counterparts with better gas mileage.

  5. Looks like a bad chop of the new ES …

but as far as the rumours are concerned, word has it that the next-gen Toyota Century, which should be coming soon, will supposedly have a V12 hybrid option. Seems fitting, seeing as the Century is the only Toyota to ever have a V12.

This new Century could supposedly be badged as a Lexus in other countries … or the new Century may become a Lexus worldwide.

We’ll see, especilally since hybrids don’t get the fuel economy attributed to them – in some cases, barely more than thier nonhybrid counterparts. And for thousands more, too! Of course, if these hybrids aren’t getting the fuel economy their makers claim, than they have to come up with another reason for building them. Performance line, perhaps? Plus, if Toyota is going to call this their Lexus “performance line”, stop feeding people their BS about how their hybrids are going to save the planet.

  7. I really don´t see a market for this car, how advanced and good it might even be. I mean already Mercedes (= MAybach) is struggling in the super luxury class, not even selling half of what was planed (and Merceds still has a very strong brand name!). Rolls Royce is doing better, but also far from selling well.

So probably a toy for japanese Top managers, but definetly not a serious contender.

  8. This car, if built, would cost a fraction of a Maybach or RR Phantom. That alone would guarantee good sales for it, not to mention the exclusivity of a V12 hybrid.

  9. Sorry, but i´m pretty sure that this is not a price sensitive segment anymore. Most buyers in that segment want people to see that they spend a lot of money (Thats why the pimp RR sells better than the plain and boring Maybach)sn

  10. how can they ever compete with cadilalc??============ douchefagbones, you just keep making yourself look more stupid as time goes on !

  11. it seems pointless, why not make the ls into a sedan to compete with the s600 and other v12 cars in this class that are over $100,000 before going at rolls royce. i mean calling a v8 hybrid the ultimate lexus to compete with those cars seems a little funny, and pointless is power the real reason why people buy v12s or is it the fact it is a v12. mercedes makes plenty of v8s that make more power or just as much as its v12, and bmw’s v10 makes more than its v12, its about the engine, not the power……

  12. Lexus need to put the V10 from the LF-A into the LS… that should be the top of range LS.

About the V12 Hybrid… the picture doesnt say anythin about the car… there are no spy pics to justify this car is gonna happen. When i c them or here from Lexus about this car happenin then only wil i believe it.

  13. Before you numbskulls get your panties in a knot, why can’t you realize that picture is just a chop. Vince said it in his post. You anti-Toyota people are just looking for a reason to bash.
$12B in profit. Record breaking sales… give credit where its due you f!@$ing turds. Toyota ain’t perfect, but as a whole, its so far ahead of the others.

/ This guy is the real joke. What a pompous twit!

  14. To the babbling moron three posts up, how is that Toyota Kool-Aid tasting? It sounds like you’d gleefully laugh like a little school girl if Toyota put their name, as well as a hybrid badge, on a pile of crap.

  15. I’m less and less impressed by hybrids every day. A 2mpg increase? I’m pretty certain that it’ll be lower than that if this is an EPA estimate. Then if you take into account all of the energy necessary for the production of the batteries, 2nd drivetrain and the disposal of these components, a V12 hybrid is less evironmentally friendly than a comparable non hybrid.

  16. Proof that the fat cats at toyota are getting too big for their britches. I love to see this because it means they are going to faulter. Hey did any of you toyota lovers notice that toyota has admitted to the new avalon as being a “problematic” vehicle?
