2007 Dodge Caliber

Last Updated:

I really like the design of the new small Dodge.
And the interior seems to have lots of cool, original features.
It is just too bad the whole thing is wrapped up with what seems to be the cheapest looking plastics in the industry. In a package that reminds me of a 1980’s K car.

Good luck in Europe, trying to compete with Opel Astras, VW Golfs, Renault Meganes and Peugeots …

  1. That glove box design is genius. I really dig the liftgate speakers too.

I guess it is another case of great ideas with poor execution. I wonder if it would at least look a little better in black.

  2. ugh… American car mfr. should just give up on coming up with original interiors. Do what GM did. Copy Lexus. They started doing it in the late 90s in some of their Cadillacs (Seville and Deville) which had replica of Lexus interior.

Now they’re doing it in Buick and some Chevys. Good job GM. If you can’t beat em, join em.

When will Chrysler learn? Just start ripping off old Mercedes inteior.

  3. According the their specs, it has a drag coefficient of .375! That is plain plathetic. The 1995 Neon had a CD of .33 and most modern cars are below .30. WTF are they thinking?

  4. as other blogs have pointed out.. LOW RENT interior.. too much plastic. And 0.37? the mustang in the 80’s was about that! wow, talk about a step BACKWARDS..

Lately with the GM, Dodge, it sure seems like a replay of the 80’s all over again! Ford, is trying to get better, and take the company in a better direction..
But this caliber, it’s not of much caliber at all! Sorry Dodge, you missed it ONCE AGAIN!

  5. The base price of this thing is cheaper than the neon it replaces ($13,000 something). I think chrysler went all out with this. The design is great from the outside and there is a lot of cool function to be had on the inside. This one may have a chance in europe. If its built in the u.s. the favcorable currency rates may present a great value there.

  6. I’ll try to wait until I see it in person, but the interior is a the soul reason why I’m not interested in this car. Design/materials do not excite me…

  7. CD of .37…
I just read the new “boring” Camry has a CD of .27!

And by the way, Jacques Chirac is right.

  8. Well, price does matter here a tad… At 20K, that interior plastic quality looks pretty sub-par from the photos… At 13K (and likely better with eventual incentives), it’s a different story.

They said the same thing about the Ass-Tec and look what happened to that piece-of-crap. This thing is a turd.

  10. Yeah i think the price will help makeup for the bad plastic. It’s trying to be innovative but at the same time I wonder how long those speaker will last before the plastic hinges break off and they fall crashing to the ground? And thanks but no thanks to the exposed hinges and screws, as well as those sharp edges.

  11. “WTF are you talking about?”

    148 hp from 1.8 liter
    158 hp from 2.0 liter
    172 hp from 2.4 liter

it is damned impressive for a compact economy car.

  12. This is no compact economy car. It weighs 3000lb, its the width of a camry, and it’ll have the fuel consumption of a small SUV. that sucks.

  13. LOOK AT THIS CAR AND THE fUGLY JEEP COMPASS. They are sibling, or shall i say CLONES. At least this one is good looking unlike the JEEP
