2007 Lexus ES 350

Last Updated:

I have to apologize for the poor quality of these pics.
We can’t really see anything new, but I thought I’d post them anyway…

The new double sunroof/glass roof option is very visible on these shots. And the side of the car doesn’t seem covered, besides the funny tape.
In the front, they’ve put the tape in such a way that it creates wrong shapes around the lights.

The engine will of course be the new 3.5 Liter V6. And I have a January 2006 date from Japanese sources. So it might be at Detroit after all…

  1. The way the masking tape is applied makes that car look like a Country Squire Lexus (or Camry).

    EEEEEW!

  2. Toyota even has better camo than competitors, you can’t tell much from these pictures but it’s good to know anyway.

  3. Hello Vince. Where do you get these spy pics from and where were they caught? I’ve always been curious. Thanks. The Lexus ES 300 or 330 will no longewr be sold in Australia.

  4. yo vince keep us posted about the new ES350, i’m considering purchasing the upcoming model… any idea on when it will go on sale? thanks,
    -mike

  5. Why does Lexus even bother to continue making the ES? The Lexus IS and GS are better cars (though the GS is pricier), and if one must have a well-appointed, FWD Toyota-built sedan, there’s the Avalon. Why the hell would anyone want a more expensive Camry clone? Kill the ES already. Even Infiniti dropped the I35 Maxima.

  6. I’ve heard anything from February/march of 2006, to August. So I’m not sure when it goes on sale…

I think Lexus would be stupid to dump the ES. It is very popular and has a big following.
And I think it is one of the best cars you can get for the money, if you like to be pampered.

It’s not something you buy to show off, it is something you get for yourself.

But I’ve also heard that the 2007 will be the last Toyota based Lexus. After the end of the next cycle, they won’t share their platform with the Camry.

  7. Hey look a sunroof like the tC 🙂 hope it has laminate on it so that it doesn’t shatter 😉

  8. The ES debut won’t be at Detroit, they’ve already announced the debuts and the ES isn’t one of them. Lexus is on the media schedule for a “world introduction” at the Chicago show so the ES debut there looks possible.

  9. “Toyota even has better camo than competitors, you can’t tell much from these pictures but it’s good to know anyway. “

Haha, so true. The camo may seem odd, but the cardboard and tape is extremely effective at covering up the styling, as opposed to the usual black “cloak” camo most automakers use. This ES is gussied up with camo so much, it’s virtually impossible to tell what sort of exterior styling it has.

Interesting in that Toyota is keeping the ES such a tight secret, while it’s being more open about the LS.

  10. Whats that burning smell? Oh look its 3 series being destroyed in straight line acceleration by a FWD ES.

  11. Engine sludge. Toyota has the worst case on record yet but they , as always , say it can’t be us, it must be poor maintenance. That’s the same “fat cat” syndrome that got GM where they are today. It just takes time. Don’t be mad, these are facts!

  12. With black tape it is hard to tell…the headlights look very similar to the LS, but again, it is difficult to tell

Let me guess … are you one of those people that also denies the piston clap problems on GM and Ford vehicles?

I have yet to see a lawsuit or anything substantial in the media regarding Toyota’s engine sludge. All I see is mostly anti-import fanatics spreading hate.

With piston clap on the other hand, there have been several lawsuits, and some that are still ongoing.

  14. Wrong again my simple friend, Toyota has been sued by many. By the way a great company can be judged by recalling their problem vehicles before a court ordered recall. Toyota isn’t one of them, they would rather deny and settle one by one until forced. Just like for example…….the pinto by Ford!

  15. dont even try to compare this car or any of toyota’s cars against things like the STS which now has cadliac’s ugly corporate face which its curves are hideous. Companies like this give car people their passion. anyways GM is about to go down in about a couple of months to toyota so its a lose lose situation for GM

  16. They should not stop making the ES. Yes it may seem worse in terms of horsepower than the IS and the GS but it is front wheel drive while the other are AWD and some people do not want to pay for the AWD in a veh nor do they need it. Reguardless Lexus will be sure to redesign it and make it GREAT!!!!

  17. The new Lexus ES is going to roughly have the same cut/design as the new IS and the new GS. As for it’s release date, it’s supposed to hitting the market late summer early fall 2007. The tape on the front is not making the headlights look that way, those are the actual headlights.

You should really get your facts straight. Toyota/Lexus runs campaigns to bring the vehicles back if there is a problem long before most people find out. That is including government offices. The fact that toyota is the only company that offers to bring the vehicle back before any government facility orders them to is something every other company should be looking at.
