2006 Chevrolet Impala

The current Impala seems to be the "poor thing" of the automotive industry.
It's ugly, cheap looking with a horrible interior.
But I must say (after a drive in a Canadian Taxi cab), it is pretty quiet and solid.
That's about it...
The new one looks much better. And more upscale. I must say, it has a friendly look to it, that the Ford 500 lacks...
The big news is the availability of a V8. That could be pretty scary in a front wheel drive car.
But again. GM does pretty well with the Cadillac Deville.

So it might work. I guess the most obvious competition could be the Nissan Maxima.
Or the Ford 500 for the V6 versions, as well as the Chrysler 300.
But, more likely, this will become again, the darling of rental fleets...

They still need something more exiting to look at. Design sells!

The Impala looks say Toyota Camry..nice compliment for a car that formerly had no personality. I'm curious about the interior switchgear. The former was very cheap and cheesy looking. I hope this '05 version is a major improvement.

Yes it is. I just saw it today but couldn't get inside.
Still doesn't look great, but it's not the visual nightmare the current one is...
