More pictures of the “not all new” 2021 Lexus IS

Last Updated:

Different wheels and darker colors do make the new IS look a bit better.
(It still looks weird to me. Plus, that “giant grille on a small car” thing…)
The big news is that it gets larger wheels! Standard 17 inch designs are replaced by a new 18-inch set.
And for the first time, 19 inch wheels are available.
Otherwise, engines are the same. A 2.0 Liter Turbo with 241HP or a 3.5 Liter V6 with “just” 260HP on the AWD version. And 311HP on the RWD model. (go figure…)
The 7-year-old interior design is now a bit dated. Even with a larger screen, revised console, and side vents. While the exterior does look new, the interior really needed an update as well…

  1. The only difference is the side indentation on the rear door panel that similar to the new Hylander, nicer looking rims and the wider infotainment screen. I like the new changes except for the slightly larger front grill.

  2. The current design is not bad, but the new changes are very welcome. Its biggest flaws have been so-so dynamics and being too small in the back and trunk. If it has not improved in these areas, it will disappear in anonymity again.
