Is the Eldorado coming's g back?

These have been published before, since they are patent designs from 2018.

I guess they were showing a coupe version of the "then" upcoming CTS replacement. (?) Which ended up being called CT5.
I think the car looks great. Also great to see the fastback shape is actually a real hatchback, just like the Escala concept.

Bust since, GM did announce that Cadillac will be coming up with many all new electric models.
Almost a parallel line-up to their gas cars. And all these new EVs will have real names. Nothing stupid like CT4/CT5/CT6/XT4/XT5 or XT6 anymore.
Which is great news in itself. But there also has been rumors of a coupe.
Which could (or at least should) be based on the design above.

A new electric Cadillac Eldorado would be really, really cool...

This is the illustration Cadillac showed last year. No concept, no name, just this.
Apparently, we will be sing the real thing next month. Which will be Cadillac's first real EV.

The cool coupe design shown above would fit nicely with this...

2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee

FCA keeps testing the all new Grand Cherokee.
It has been quite a while now...

And about time for a new one. The current generation came out in 2011!

Apparently, the next generation will be based on the Giorgio platform also used for the Alfa Romeo Stelvio.
It also looks quite long on these pictures, which means it could be the 3 row version.

This picture is from last year, but shows a very modern and upscale interior. With a very nicely integrated screen. (Nothing seems to be sticking out.)

Although the new Grand Cherokee will be introduced this year, production is scheduled to start in the Spring of 2021. A plug-in hybrid version will also be available.

2020 Geneva Auto show canceled!

This is pretty stunning. The Geneva Auto Show has just been canceled. Due to a new law in Switzerland banning events of more than 1000 people until March 15th. (At least)
(I guess press days were early next week and tons of journalists from around the world were about to fly over.)
This is all due, of course, to development of the Covid-19 virus.
Although Switzerland only has 15 reported cases of the virus, Northern Italy has at least 650 cases reported.

Most new car events are being re-scheduled as online events etc...
One way or another, we will see the new VW GTI, Fiat 500 EV, Audi A3 sportback, Hyundai Prophecy Concept, BMW i4, revised 2021 Mercedes E-class and others.

This is pretty bad and scary news.

2021 Kia Sedona interior

I posted pictures of the all new Kia Sedona HERE, no we can see what the interior will look like,
At least part of the dashboard and the console.
And it already seems very modern and upscale.

The double screens are integrated into a single unit. And it seems quite large.
Plus you can already see another small screen for the climate control.

We should see the whole thing in April since it will be revealed for the New York Auto show.
So far so good.

2021 Genesis G80 illustration

Another illustration of what the all new generation Genesis G80 sedan could look like.
Although it does seem to match most of what we have seen on the prototypes, the grille seems to be a bit off. And quite crude looking.

And the headlights also seem wrong.

2021 Hyundai 45EV. Concept Vs.production

Hyundai is coming up with an all new EV model very soon. And its design will be based on the 45 Concept we just saw a few months ago. Itself inspired by the old Hyundai Pony from the 1970's which was designed by Giugiaro.

You can already tell the production model will be seriously toned down from the cool concept.
But there is so much camouflage on it. Even if the proportions aren't as sporty, this could still look really nice...

2021 Nissan Note

The current generation Nissan Note was sold in the US as the Versa Note for a few years.
Even though it is not available here anymore, the Note is still popular in other countries.
And a brand new one is coming out soon.

As you can see from the picture above, the new design will be quite a departure. Not only from the current Note, but from all other Nissan designs.
It looks like a very sharp origami. There seem to be very few curves, if any.
Lots of it seems to have been inspired by the cool Ariya Concept.

Since Nissan would rather sell us the Kicks, the next generation Note will probably not be coming over here.
But let's hope if previews a cool and different design language. Something we could maybe see on the next generation Pathfinder. Or Rogue...

This is the Ariya concept.
The new Note pictured above looks a lot like a toned down version of this. At least up front...

2021 Mercedes S-Class grille for sale ...

This was sent to me from Europe. with no explanation...

I guess you can actually buy the grille of a car that isn't out yet for 500 bucks. Which doesn't seem to bad at all.
You can always get the rest of the car later, when it comes out.

2021 VW GTI

These are the first official pictures of the all new VW Golf GTI.
Which is, as it always been , a subtle sportier version of the Golf.

And by now, with EVs, SUVs and hybrids of all kinds, it seems almost old fashion.
A pure turbo, 6 speed manual driving experience.
This is great.

It has been 44 years since the every first GTI.
Not many specs available, but the 2.0 Liter now produces 245HP. Which is really a lot for this car.
This will be a lot of fun! Old fashion fun... And the standard seats are still plaid!!

On another note, why do these official pictures look so bad??? the look like B&W photos that have been colored.
No cool background. You would think they'd what to make their new car look its best...
So weird. Why???

2021 GMC Terrain

It looks like the GMC terrain will soon be getting a refresh.
I do like the current generation quite a bit and hope GM will not ruin it.
From the top photo, it looks like he grille might be getting a bit larger. The bottom trim is now sticking out a bit. Which is too bad.

The GMC is a fine choice for a crossover. And quite popular with over 100 000 of them sold last year. I did liked it when I was driving it for a week.

The main flaw could be its price after options. Especially the Denali version ( A usual problem with current GM luxury versions)

All new DS9 sedan

Even though the new DS9 is quite a decent looking sedan, this is pretty sad...

The "DS" brand gets its name from the fantastic and futuristic Citroen DS from 1955. The car was produced fro 20 years and still looked more modern than almost anything on the road when it ended production.
So far, Citroen has been putting out really overdone designs under the luxurious DS brand.

Their new top of the line is this sedan. Which is so heavily based on the Peugeot 508, that it ends up looking very similar.
It looks like a tackier version of the Peugeot. Nothing futuristic anything that stands out from a crowd. Like something called "DS" should be.

This should just be a Peugeot.

Citroen claims the DS is longer and more luxurious than the 508. Which it is.
Since it is based on the long wheelbase version of the Peugeot that is, so far, only sold in China.
But proportions are almost exactly the same.

Badge engineering might be OK for Chevy and GMC. But you would think PSA would really want to make their  DS brand more special.
The DS9 is is just so overdone. Especially inside. So many lines, textures etc...

Let's hope the upcoming large Citroen car (maybe a sedan) gets a really cool and modern design.
Not something like this...

And how about that ridiculous, ugly, overdone, and vulgar looking clock that sticks out of the dashboard.
This, will stare at you every time you drive.

I guess this is what passes for "luxury" these days..

2021 Hyundai Elantra

Just a few more pictures of the next generation Elantra.
On the second pic, you can really see the (cheap looking) black plastic trim between the C-pillar and the red side window. Something everyone seems to be doing these days, instead of using glass.
I can see that it would really be a small piece of glass and it might not look that bad once we see the final design.
Plus, some of it might e covered by some chrome trim anyways.

The car does look pretty slick. And hybrid powertrains are expected.

Treasures from the "Golden Cactus ghost town museum".

On my way back from Death Valley a few days ago I drove by this really weird place called the "Golden Cactus ghost town museum".
Not only weird, but it actually looked a bit scary...
And of course, "closed".

I did manage to take a few pictures of some of the cars that were parked there.

- In the 1st one I can recognize an old International truck. A fantastic looking Lincoln Continental 3. An old Dodge and a Studebaker.
- Not sure what's in that second photo.
- In the 3rd pic, I can see a chrome logo that says "Special deluxe". But I am still not sure of the brand.
And I have no idea what the really old Laurel and Hardy type car is.
- Again, no idea what the car is in the last photo.

Do you know what these cars are?

2021 Ford F-150: not all new.

It looks like the "new" Ford F-150 for 2021 is not all new.
But just an extensive refresh.

It is basically the same truck with an all new front end, slightly revised rear end. And probably a new interior.
I guess it doesn't matter since, no matter what, they seem to sell about a million of these every year.
So why spend the money on something 'all new".

The real news will be the availability of an EV version. About a year later. Which will compete of course with the various electric versions of the GM trucks.

We'l have to wait at least 3 years it seems for a real "new F-150"...

2021 VW GTI teaser

The top picture is the first official picture of that all new VW GTI.
The bottom one is the regular 2020 Golf (The one we are not getting in the US)

As you can see, the GTI will be what it has always been: a sportier Golf. Which is great.
The front end is slightly more aggressive, but not obnoxious.
As usual, a 2 liter turbo with a 6 speed manual will be standard . Also great.

The other good news is that the new GTI will come to the US next year.

2021 Nissan Kicks

Looks like the little Nissan Kicks might be getting some changes for the 2021 model year.

Although the Kicks has only been in the US for a short while, it actually came out in 2016 in other countries. So it is not too early for some revisions.
The prototype in the top photo seems to have an all new front end. And some kind of aero wheels. Which means it could be a hybrid. Or plug-in version.
Or maybe even an EV? Since for all these years Nissan has only used their EV technology on the Leaf. It would seem about time for them to get more EVs out...

202/22 Lucid Air

We finally get a look at the production version of the stunning Lucid Air (top photo)
And, as predicted, it looks almost exactly the same as the concept we have seen for years now (bottom)
Which is great.

They are still claiming at least 400 miles of EV range.
Driving seems to be in flux. As they previously stated the car would start at around $60 000. But later mentioned that only the more expensive versions would actually be produced. Which means a base price closer to $100 000.
I really hope they get to actually build the $60 000 version. As it looks quite amazing and would be some serious competition (at a cheaper price point) to the aging Tesla Model S.
And pretty much any luxury sedan around. EV or not...

2021 Fiat 500 Electric

As mentioned before, the new 2021 Fiat 500 is a new car. Not just a refresh.
But it is still hard to tell on this picture (2021 on top. Bottom is current model)

It looks like Fiat went to a lot of effort to make sure the new car doesn't look too different.

The new model is supposed to be a bit larger and roomier. At least on this picture, I can't see the rumored 3rd door to help rear seat access. Maybe it is on the other side. Or maybe this will be yet another version.
It's good to see the "convertible" version being available as an EV. Which is really really rare.

We will see the whole thing in just a few days now. And let's hope it comes back to the US...

More pictures of the new Chevrolet Menlo EV

The all new Menlo is a Chevrolet EV for the Chinese market.
It is still baed on the Bolt, and not GM's all new and upcoming EV platform.
Although it is quite longer. About 20 inches longer than the Bolt.
Its EV ranged is rated at 161 miles. Which is OK, but far less than the Bolt.

It looks pretty busy, and the proportions are a bit weird when viewed from profile.
This is basically a FWD wagon that is trying way too hard to pass for an SUV...
