2021 Mitsubishi Outlander Vs. Engelberg Tourer Concept

Last Updated:

As expected, the recent Engelberg Tourer Concept was a preview of the next generation Mitsubishi Outlander.
Which is really due for a redesign since it came out back in 2012.
As you can see on the pictures above, the production version will stay very close to the concept design.
Sure, the wheels are much smaller and the side windows a bit smaller etc… But that is to be expected in the transition to production.
It also looks like most of that “rather blunt” front end will carry over.
Even though I am not that crazy about the concept design, I do applaud Mitsubishi for finally trying to stand out a bit.
Although I am not really sure how different this will be from the next Nissan Rogue. Which will probably be based on the same platform.
The Mitsubishi/Nissan thing reminds me of the Hyundai/Kia relationship. (The same thing could be said about Peugeot and Opel in Europe)
These cars from “different”brands are actually priced pretty much the same. And occupy the same segment. Unlike Chevrolet/Buick/Cadillac. Or VW/Audi.
Will Mitsubishi move up market? Or will it be priced cheaper than the Nissan?
Not sure why the Nissan/Renault/Mitsubishi machine would created another competitor to their super popular Rogue.

  1. Looks good for a Mitsubishi if they stay true to the concept. I already see a lengthening of front overhang. The concept looked much better proportioned. There designs have been dreadful the last decade or so, and what were they thinking with the EclipseCross name.

  2. The one think that Mitsubishi vehicles were known for is being a cheap plastic interior and very weak powertrains. Hopefully, they will address this starting in the new design.

  3. Palisade meets Chinese Jeep Commander.

Yes, the Outlander needs a replacement since it came out in 2012, but the Outlander Sport is even worse! It was out in 2009!

  4. sad and pathetic. there are real car designers out there with taste. why are the morons and idiots who think this embarrassment of a design should be sold to an unsuspecting public the ones in charge at Mitsu? So weak, so bad.
