Burlapp Cars around L.A: Nissan Figaro

Last Updated:

I have always been a big fan of the Nissan Figaro. Although I had never seen one in real life.
Until a few days ago.
This one is in a store, downtown Los Angeles. As a display, but somehow is also for sale ($16 000)
In person, it is as charming and special as you’d imagine.
The attention to detail is amazing.
I realized that most people who don’t know what it is, think it is an actual old car.
The Figaro was produced in 1991. They made a total of 20 000 (8000 were originally planned)
All are powered by a small 1.0 Liter engine are based on the Nissan March.
The design was mainly influenced by French and Italian designs from the ’50s and ’60s.
Like the Peugeot 403 convertible. Mostly known as Columbo’s car.
I actually do wish I had an extra $16 000 to get this… It might be weird driving around here since the steering wheel is on “the other side”. But I bet you get used to it.
And being a small Nissan from the 90’s it is probably pretty reliable and easy to maintain.
Please send money now.

  1. I was very surprised to see one of these last summer, up in Door County, Wisconsin. Great looking car!

  2. I swear I'm not paid by these people, but I found a dealer in Virginia with hundreds of Japanese domestic cars imported with the EPA's 25-year-old exemption. They have Honda Beats, Suzuki Cappuccinos, Autozams, and about 130 Figaros (a bunch for much less than $16k). Buy one Vince and document the road trip back to Los Angeles with some of that amazing Burlapp Vision!

I'm looking forward to more cool foreign cars from my childhood making their way to the US!

  3. set up a GoFund page. '' Broke Automotive Blog Journalist Who Has Explosive Diarrhea''. You know, something classy that will get you sympathy and Money $$$$$. 🙂 Enjoy your new Figaro !

  4. I should have known it was a '90's car with that CD player. Vince, is that a stick or automatic shift?

TwoBear, I have seen this in DC too. There's also a nice old Citroen that you see parked in Egg Harbor.

  5. Had an old Beetle and an early sixties Fiat 600 in this color. Hated it then, would love to see it now. Guess I'm going from old to really old and dripping with nostalgia.

  6. great design. something like this would be amazing as a hybrid or plug-in hybrid but sized at 125%.. a modern retro version of the '66 peugeot 404 coupe or… better yet, late 50s Chevy
