2019 Toyota Prius

Last Updated:

For the new year, Toyota made the Prius about 10% less weird.
The front end is much cleaner. And the rear lights are not so bizarro anymore.
Inside, the weird bathtub looking console seems to be gone (Although that might just be the color on the pic above)
The main event for 2019 is the availability of AWD for the first time in the US Prius. With a second motor.
Powered by the same 121HP 1.8 Liter as the new Corolla sedan hybrid, the AWD model gets the same 50MPG average rating.

  1. Vince, the vehicle looks much much cleaner. I have no idea what Toyota designers were thinking about creating the previous look for the American market.
I drove one and I was very impressed with the power and handling, however I couldn't pass the look of the exterior.

I like the exterior look of the Prius Prime and I wish that was the design on the regular Prius.

Also, on the midcycle refresh I hope they've improve the small overlap crash test on the passenger side.
I'm big on safety since my family is very important. That's the other reason I drive a 2017 Mazda CX5 GT and a 2018 Honda CRV.

  2. No, not less weird. We've just become used to it.
That looks like the stripper version with the flat black grill openings.

I prefer the current one and I don't like the current one.

  3. Besides the hydrogen powered Mirai, this is easily the ugliest car on the road, current and revised addition.

  4. With the Corolla Hybrid on the way, why is Toyota even bothering with this?? Kill it already.
