2019 Chevrolet Malibu RS

Last Updated:

The new RS version of the 2019 Malibu will start at $25 000.
Which is about $1000 less than a Honda Accord Sport or Camry SE.
It comes with these really nice looking 18 inch wheels. A spoiler (too bad…)
The Chevrolet logos are now black instead of that horrible looking Gold color.
Leather steering wheel and shifter.   Not bad at all for $1000 over the LS version.
Not sure how many colors you can choose from, but the interior choice seems to be limited to black cloth…
And for 2019, the 1.5 Liter turbo now comes with a CVT instead of a 6 speed auto.
And the new 8 inch screen is larger.
The great 2.0 Liter is still an option on higher end models, and now comes with the “equally great” 9 speed auto.

  1. GM have always been so good at bodywork, but are apparently blind with regard to detailing (grill/headlights, etc.). This is a handsome car in profile, and the shaping of the sheet metal is very nicely done. The entire front end, especially the grillwork, is abysmal.

  2. Not sure, but I think the whole black bowtie thing started with the Rally-1 Edition package on the Silverado.

  3. The only thing that makes the RS more visually appealy is the the absence of the GOLD bowtie, which labels every chevy as 'cheap car'.

  4. Thankfully the golden logo is a goner. For good or in the RS model? But what’s up with the minute size of it? Are they ashamed of it or trying to make it disappear? The front grille looks at minimum confused.

  5. That front end is terrifying. The original was overdone, didn't think they could outdo themselves.

  6. Nice that they included different wheels. On the Cruze LT RS package the wheels are the same boring LT wheels.

  7. The biggest issue w/ the current Malibu has always been the headlights. They're flat across; they need that scowl look to them to be effective. A shame – the light ruin an otherwise very nicely executed car.

  8. +1's for the first two commenters.

Great shape, tacky bling made worse in this revision. All too often Chevy gets worse and worse with in generational changes.

Still miss my 05 Malibu Maxx. Love midsized hatches and this would be so easy.
