2019 Acura RDX (concept)

Last Updated:

I think it looks much nicer on these pictures.
I still hate the grille. ( I guess I have to come to terms with the fact that I might just hate grilles in general..)

But the rest of the car is so much nicer than recent Acura designs.
At least it is not invisible. And they didn’t go crazy on the design like Lexus does with its SUVs.

The interior is also much nicer and upscale.
The console is still bit weird, but it works for me. Again, much better than what they have now.
Although that wood does look way too fake for my taste. At least the shape of that piece  on the door panel. (Super fake looking wood also plagues the Accord and CR-V)

Power will come from a 2.0 Liter Turbo with a 10 speed automatic.
Which is basically the same as the Accord. (the 2.0 liter produces 252HP in the Accord)

If I was in the market for an upscale, “not too big” SUV, I would definitely consider this.
I think it would be way nicer than a BMW X3 .
And not as overdone as the Lexus NX.

  1. Well said Vince. What an improvement. I think they are on to something now finally. Love the interior.

  2. I actually like the grille, especially when comparing to Lexus and Infiniti. Elegant and sporty at the same time. Interior center stack reminds me of a luxury version of the NSX.

  3. Nothing terribly original here. Looks pretty much like every other crossover. And that's not a good thing.

  4. Love it! I think Acura has a home-run here which is great for the brand. If this drives as great as it looks, I would definitely put this, and the 2018 Volvo XC60, at the top of my list.

  5. Much better than the current one, but…..it almost has a Chinese quality in that it looks like they started with a 1st generation CX-5 (the proportions, stance, rear and two main character lines on the side are extremely similar) and then added a bunch of additional details.

It looks good because they were influenced by a great design but it's not creating anything distinctly Acura.

  6. Love it. This will sell like bonkers.
Also news of Acura bringing back the Type S models! With their own new twin turbo V6 on a new platform! Yes!!! Acura is waking up finally!

  7. It looks sharp enough, but the exterior design still looks like a Honda from the side and back. Acura needs to be differentiated more from its parent brand.

  8. At first glance it looks like a blatant copy of a CX-5. That interior is a mess, even vulgar with that coochie looking thing in the middle.

  9. All you people only see cx5 because of the color Acura has the car in. They are both totally different looks

  10. Have to see it in person to really be fair to Acura but immediate impression is that it like every other Japanese crossover in looks and shape!
