2017 Mercedes E-Class Estate

Last Updated:

That is a good looking wagon.

Not surprising since it does come from the the equally good looking new E Class sedan.

This looks so much better than most Mercedes SUVs. and it looks like there is the same or more amount of room back there…
Actually yesterday I saw a new BMW 3 series wagon and was reminded of how much better it looks than the ugly sedan. And of course, any of these horrific looking X1 and X3 SUVs.

But, if I was in the luxury wagon market, my choice would still be the all new Volvo V90.
Sure, I have not driven any of them. Or even seen them in real life for that matter.

But I really like the Volvo.

Power should be coming from the exact same engines as the sedan.
Which means 2.0 Liter Turbo in the US (Except for the AMG version)

Next we will see the new E Class coupe and convertible.

  1. Hey, I'm a fan! I've been visiting your site for quite some time now. About 10 years actually…lol I find it strange though, that after all of this time, you still don't take time to proof-read or revise any of your posts before finalizing them. There are misspelled words, double typed words, typos, punctuation errors, etc. I've gotten used to them over the years. However, these things make it hard for us as readers to clearly digest what you've said/written. I just thought I'd bring that to your attention, because I know that you take pride in your work. Take care.

  2. I like that you can get it with the star hood ornament instead of the big star on the grille.

It's way classier that way. Makes it look like a Cold War Vienna taxi in a movie.

  3. Ok.

I agree with the second poster. I've been visiting for the better part of the last 10 years, and the typos can be quite distracting. But it also makes the site more endearing as well. I appreciate the effort Vince puts in to maintaining this site.

Now, about the car – it reminds me a lot of the CLS shooting brake in profile. It's quite lovely, but you know that sloping rear cuts down a smidge on space (like it does on the V90).

  4. @12:58: He simply says what we all say. Vince is a great guy, does a great job & I am pretty sure he can deal with constructive critizism (such as @10:49 AM).

  5. Very classy and very German looking. Too bad that country is being raped and being taken over by outsiders.

  6. That's right. Even a spelling software would break under so much work. Oh, by the way, wagons do not sell….

etc, etc. Yea, the typos and misspellings are very annoying. Pathetic, actually. And pretty disrespectful to the reader to realize that the author doesn't care enough about his site or his followers to even get the spelling right. Pretty disgusting the more I think of it. Even more disgusting than the outside of this wagon. I do like the wagons interior though–especially the dash. Now if they can just make a long wheelbase model so taller Americans can fit in both front and back. The small size is why my BMW 7 will be traded in on a $70k Cadillac CT6 instead of an E-Class. The ONLY reason — but reason enough to put my cash with Cadillac!

  8. It'll be the E400 in the USA, comes with the 3.0 turbo and 4MATIC all wheel drive as standard instead of the 2.0

  9. all these pretentious, professor type wannabes…..grow up, no one cares what you think ….at all. Only speak if your comments improve upon the silence. If you have issue with Vince's spelling etc…., start your own blog. Small minds using this forum to express how misspelling offends them….laughable, small people.

  10. this is not a grammar site, it's a car site. It's about the vehicles presented. Don't impose your petty will on others. Free world, leave if you don't like it.

  11. "this is not a grammar site,…."

    "Not quite accurate…."

  12. Ahhhh, gotta love The Comments Section.

I'm surprised no one has had issue with the garish and hilariously large iPad gauge and instrument panels. It looks tacked on already, and with electronics improving as fast as they do, that thing will look dated by 2019.

imo, I would've preferred traditional gauges for a more timeless and Mercedes-Benz feel.

….The high school drop out said. AND WE ALL KNOW IT. The site is all about COMMUNICATION. And spelling is part of it. That's just the way the (grown-up) world works. Sorry children.
